do I need a controller or does mouse and keyboard work just fine for this game?
The title. I know a lot of JRPGs require a controller. So I thought I would ask.

I've been getting by with mouse and keyboard just fine for 20+ hours--so you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Also, keyboard prompts are actually displayed on screen when you use a keyboard, which is nice, since sometimes console ports don't bother with those. And you can use a mouse when navigating menus, and it's super responsive.

All in all, while there's a few hiccups regarding performance--and some reported crashes from other people--I'm quite impressed with the port!

It's strictly turn based so you should do just fine with keyboard and mouse. Also no Quick time events so far so I don't think there are any.

Plays much better with a controller. It was designed for consoles. But you can play it with mouse and keyboard.

I think game pad would be the preferred control method because its easier to move your character while adjusting the camera with the right stick at the same time, but you can use keyboard and mouse. The game even supports clicking on menu items on the screen to select them where most console ports do not. Most of them just allow you to use the mouse buttons in place of game pad buttons, but not as a pointing device.

My main problem with the controls would be Q and E to turn the camera, incredibly uncomfortable. Pretty sure you can change it, but I'd rather just lay back in my chair and use my controller (xbox 360)
