Persona 4 Golden

Persona 4 Golden

Persona 5 Compared to the Other Games (at least P3 and P4) Story Wise is Way Less Entertaining
I feel like P3 with it's darker theme was way more enjoyable and emotional, and I feel the same with P4 (P4 wasn't as dark). However P5 was more in my opinion more "kiddy" and less emotional. Yes some scenes you could say were emotional but not nearly as much as P3 and P4. P5 seems just like a modern kiddy Persona game. I also dislike P5 less now because it seems like the characters are just revamped characters from previous games. If you look at the characters and see the similarities with the previous games' characters you will most likely dislike P5 more. Some of the similarities include the "funny guy." (Yosuke, Ryuji, and Junpei) It's not bad to have a funny guy but they all seem really similar if you look from afar. So overall I like P5 but I feel like it's just another Persona game with better graphics and more to do (social links, how to gain stats).

We are seeing more and more game ports getting localized long after the fact, so I have hope if Atlus finds PC profitable enough to invest in.

Persona 5 is about about societal trappings and how screwed up those systems can be.
I mean, the prosecution in Japanese court has something like a 93% success rate, which is disturbingly high.

This isn't a joke btw. If you go to court in Japan you're already assumed guilty and the purpose of defendants is to lower your sentence not exonerate you.

Basically Sae in P5 is pretty much the perfect prosecutor who puts the reputation of the court above morality or justice.

It's also why part of Phoenix Wright is essentially playing detective. Any suspect in that courtroom is assumed guilty.

It's also really surprising we got P5 at all because so many of the things it brings up are faults of Japanese society in particular. There's a lot of nuance that even diehard "weebs" (not using that in an insulting way) would miss.

Yeah, you basically need like clear video proof you are innocent to get out of jail time.

For me P3 felt like a bunch of coworkers working together, except MC and Aegis, which felt like their relationship grew with each other as the game went on. Ending hit hard though.

P4 felt like a group of close friends who were all friends with each other as well as MC.

P5 just feels like a bunch of people hanging together only because they're all friends of the MC.

This.

Not only P5's cast does not have lots of chances to actual bond with each other, the game deliberately cut those chances short (cancelled firework festival, Phantom Thief, PT, and more PT stuffs during Hawaii Trip). I stopped the game at 70 hours (Haru's dad's palace) and never came back. I'll give Royal another chance though.

Wow, such hatred for P5, just because it has the better combat system, higher stakes story and more likable characters (except for Akechi, he straight up sucks).

I forgot how toxic the P4 part of the fanbase was.

No one "hates" P5 for the most part. I feel most people just think P3's and P4's stories and characters were better than P5's. Most people who enjoy P3 and P4 probably still like P5 however still prefer P3 and P4 overall. Though P5's combat and other mechanics were enjoyable and impressive most people in this discussion still prefer P3 and P4.
Yeah, P5 still has the best gameplay and best presentation.
Though, it does help Persona 5 took elements from all 4 prior mainline entries.

That's kind of P5's problem though. The characters all feel like rehashes. And lesser ones at that. I prefer all the previous game's character archetypes better.

P4 = Best protagonist.
P3 = Best 'tough guy emperor' character Akihiko.
P4 = Best sassy/attitude girl sidekick Chie.
P4 = Best Navigator Rise.
P3 = Best 'serious' empress sidekick Mitsuru.

Etc.
For me, with the exception of Morgana, P5 characters are sometimes in second place at best.
eh not really. its my first persona game and it got me to play the rest of the old series (yes even the best one: Persona 2 IS/EP). id say its slightly better than the last 2. its just that its theme is way different to every persona entry. of course the gameplay is way superior than 3 and 4 hands down.

Best protag : P3

For the rest OK.... Althrough i like Fuuka better for navigator... But i can't deny tha Rise is... Rise

After that Elizabeth and Aegis make P3 above in term of Characters
Also he Best Side-Kicks is in P3 with Junpei

And in P3 the last boss is hust the best of all the serie by far! (and the music tracks for this fight is just one the serie"s best <3)

I was also getting at the amount of attack types, the gun sub-weapons, and monster negotations from Persona 1 & 2 also return in some form.

They kept thoses on the main serie (the numbered SMT) and on some Spin-Off (for the different physical damage type.... The demon negotation is now mainly a main serie feature...)

lol, toxic. Since when opinions shared by many people are considered "toxic", especially since this is a P4 board. You seem upset because your favorite game isnt liked as much, which is pretty childish

So in your eyes having a different opinion from yours automatically makes you toxic? You are 100% wrong. So don't put me into that group and put words in my mouth as you DO NOT speak for me. I happened to like P5. Also let other have their opinion. And grow up.

One thing I think really hurts Persona 5's story is the very start of it... They start you off escaping the casino, getting caught by the police and straight up told you got someone betraying the group... All within minutes of starting a brand new game for the first time.

And who ends up betraying the group isn't even remotely hard to figure out...

pancakes

And then you get the sections with Sae introducing who's the big bad person of the month who the group ends up going against.
You don't get to experience the story properly as it unfolds, but instead it throws a small synopsis of what's about to happen first.

Yeah, but that makes sense in the context of the narrative structure that the game goes with, it's perfectly fine.

Something very similar happens in P4, as targets will apper on TV before the actual rescue (leading to the usual "huh, I wonder who that was..." bruh moment)
