Game freezes following team attack

Hi,
Sometimes when I use the all out attack/ team attack mechanic, the character portraits momentarily remain in a frozen position on screen. Usually, this is not an issue, as within a minute or so the portraits disappear and I can continue to play. However, at the moment, I am experiencing a freeze which has not ended. The music still plays, and I can turn auto attack on and off, but the characters don't act, likely because the game doesn't allow actions to take place until the auto attack has ended, and it can't sense that it is over because of the character portrait. Is anyone else having a similar problem? If so, have you found a solution of some sort. I don't want to close out of the game for fear of losing save data, and have tried moving into a different window than the game using Alt-Tab.
