Why did Nanako kill all of those people?

I don't really get it. The reveal that she was the killer this whole time really felt half-assed. I feel like the complete 180 the game throws at you when her sociopathy is revealed really goes against the game's theme of using the power of friendship to reach out to the truth.

She is a worshipper of Mehrunes Dagon and did this to change Inaba and abolish traditions. Her first murder was an accident, but then she targeted only those who represent Inaba's traditions: Konishi, Tatsumi, Amagi. Naoto's family has a long history of being detectives, so she is on the list too. Note that she didn't target Yosuke, as he represents Junes (the change).

Thank you. Your post really shed some light on this issue. I guess the overarching subtext of the urbanization of Japan and the degredation of its rural communties (those simmilar to Inaba) was lost on me. When I think about the game in the context of conservation vs. change it makes a lot more sense now.
