Why doesn't Kanji have a gay route option?
It should be so obvious to Atlus that, at this point, society has heavily accepted the LGBTQ+ community. They should really make Kanji gay.

Kanji was never intended to be gay. His route is about being seen as gay or feminine.

Though interestingly apparently early in development Yousuke was planned to come out later in the game.

Though perhaps Atlus might be more considerate and make either Yosuke or Kanji gay to add some representation within the Persona series? I am still mad that they didn't have any in Persona 5 since Yusuke and Ryuji were both very lovable.

MAKE them gay? That's just not their character. You're part of the issue of the Toxic part of LGBT. Demanding changes to characters instead of having well written characters that happen to be gay/female/etc. Stick to your ships and ♥♥♥♥ off. Atlus isnt homophobic for shilling a badly written character to be gay, you're acting like its a choice. Piss off now :)

they make these games in japan and they dont really care about LGBTQ+ community in that country in fact they sometimes poke fun at them from time to time (example they censored a scene from P5 R for the western release because it poke fun of gays)

Also keep in mind this game is a port of an 8 year old remake of a 12 year old game. If this was a problem to you, you should have spoken up a decade ago, well before this game made it to steam.

Don't worry, based on what's going on in society right now the race war should be kicking off soon... assuming we're not already in it.
i really doubt japan is going to have a race war any time soon, maybe the west will but not japan

There is a gay character in Persona 2 Innocent Sin who you can confess your feelings for. IIRC, the team said something about not wanting to do any BL for Persona after that. I can't remember the reason why though. There's also some surface level yuri in P3P.

Being able to date Yosuke in P4 would have felt wrong imo, and it would have felt even more wrong if they added that option in Golden if it wasn't available in the base game. That's just my opinion on properly implementing gay characters though. Plus I see the protagonists as having a fairly set-in-stone personality, so giving the player the option to be gay in an upgraded version of the game would also feel wrong for that reason.

I think it's totally possible for Atlus to properly implement gay romance options in a possible P6, but I doubt they would try it, seeing how they only seem to piss people off with their minority representation. They'll probably play it safe and just have hetero relationships.

"Poke fun" as in "makes jokes about them being pedophiles."

Persona isn't going to have gay representation while Hoshino is director as he's extremely conservative even for Japan.

Hoshino is directing Project RE Fantasy and has left P-Studio. Calling him conservative is a bit much, the guy directed Catherine, and regardless of what you think of the new endings in Fullbody, you can't really call him conservative in a social sense unless there's been an interview where he disavows gays. But from his work and the interviews I've seen, he's a very open minded individual who wants to represent more fringe aspects of humanity and culture.

You guys should really stop watching those dudebro, "anti-sjw", alt-right YouTubers who say any sort of diversity in media is bad :)

Also nice to know that Persona / SMT elitists are as homophobic as the producer for Persona 3, 4, and 5 that has said he, "cannot see guys and girls as just being friends." As well being a huge homophobe about it as well.

How about no.
Yume Hana Jun 15, 2020 @ 2:25am
First of all, to answer the question: because he's not gay. End of the question.

Thanks to people like the OP pushing their agenda down the others' throats, I came to hate lots of English words that used to be normal: diversed, inclusive and a freaking rainbow color.

Let the artists freely express their vision. If you don't like their vision, go play another games that share whatever inclusiveness you desire. There're a bunch of them on Steam.

He's a member of a fringe right wing political party but you are right about Catherine (Full body has the issue of deadnaming Erica, but that might just not be a thing in Japan.)

It's only P5 that got kinda weird with those jokes that are kinda dated even in Japan. The game also has a social link with a character who is pretty much Japanese Bernie Sanders so it's a land of contrasts.
