Is there an option/mod to remove the slow paced, turn-based combat?
Good game, but I've never been into the whole waiting turns to attack and planning out moves. Having to wait turns to attack makes it seem kinda slow and unrealistic. You don't really do that in real life and I'm not really into those kinda games in general. Is there any mod or option in the settings to remove that and make it a standard third person action game?

So you want to play a supposedly "good game" - according to you - without its core element. Okay. Next time you'll want to play GTA without cars and no crime in it. Why do that when there's plenty of walking sims around? By the same principle, why play P4G when there's plenty of 3rd person shooters around?

Uh... look, i'm not sure ANYONE is good enough to turn a TBC JRPG into an action game. You would need to overhaul SO MUCH that the effort just isn't even worth it.

Maybe you just need to admit that the Persona series isn't for you.
How hard can it be? Just remove whatever makes the combat turn based in the files/code so we can all just move around and attack instantly. The type of mentality you perpetuate is for console players who are used to being locked down. We know better.

Lolno. The changes you're talking about would consist of hundreds of thousands if not millions of lines of code being rewritten.

You don't "know better". I'm a software engineer with a masters degree in computer science, you're some kid on the internet that thinks coding a game is something you do in an afternoon apparently.

Why are Persona fans so defensive? I mean, i think this game is worse than actual torture but there is kind of a real time action game element when you hit enemies on a dungeon, right? So i guess maybe?
Not into coding and stuff

Then this game isn't your thing. Hey man, I think the GTA/Red Dead games are great and I respect what they are but they just aren't for me... I'll never play them. I can appreciate their value but I'm not after a mod that turns them into JRPGS lol.
Well I mean the point of having games on PC is to customize and make them the way you want them to be...
Mods mostly enhance a game - not COMPLETELY CHANGE HOW THE CORE MECHANICS. You're insane if you think there is going to be a day one mod that removes literally 50% of how the game is played. Lol

Sorry that I dare want to play a game that I bought on my terms. What a horrible thing. I don't have time to be waiting around for turns. It's a good game otherwise. I work for a living, I don't have the luxury of sitting around.

I refuse to believe someone with a mentality as stupid as yours works for a living. You come across as being 12. You think someone is obligated to spend literal years of their time coding to turn a game into something you think it should be, because you claim to have paid $20?

Not happening in day one. That would be YEARS of of work for one modder to make happen.

Dude, you expect a total remake by modders and change the whole gameplay on day 1. It will probably never happen. The game is made for turn-based-gameplay - Chess is also not a "realistic" battlefield and still a great game btw.
That's like saying "women are made to be in the kitchen". Pretty restrictive and reflective of a mentality that's pretty outdated. There's an option in Final Fantasy 7 to go from turn based to standard third person action adventure, why not here?

No there isn't. FF VII Remake has no turn-based combat option.

That kinda exists since the 90s.
Quake racing and stuff. Still think it's plausible

Why play a turn-based JRPG then?

Some games like the Trails series & FF12 alleviates this slow battling through the use of the "Turbo" button. This game does not have that. This is exactly how we played it 12 years ago. Deal with it, lol.

If you're that desperate play it on an emulator with frame limit off.

You played a game from 2012 12 years ago? What's it like in 2024?

if only this game used engine as opened for modding as id tech or source

This game uses the McDonalds Happy Meal Engine™, as seen with the "grease on your glasses" motion blur

If a game's coding allows for that amount of flexibility, maybe. Look at Skryim, one of the most HEAVILY modded games. It's impossible to add some things to that game given its engine/limitations. Or they're INSANELY buggy tot he point they're not worth doing.

One modder would spend probably a year trying to make what OP wants a reality. The game is not mean to be played as a beat em up/hack and slash. Especially with persona abilities.

I legitimately can't even fathom the amount of work to make something like this happen without re-doing everything from the ground up.

You need to somehow make:
  • Hack and slash system
  • Make persona abilities work in real time
  • Somehow make the shadows not appear as blobs
  • Make sure the new shadow models have correct pathing AI targetting
  • Have them not clip through walls and just destroy you 'cuz the levels do not warrant hacks/slash
Ect etc. The point is it'd be SO much work that is NOT happening on day one - or ever.

Again I'm just ranting now for the sake of ranting, but again you'd HAVE to just redo the game entirely from the ground up and it'd not be persona at that point. Lol

You missed the "day one" part of that. Quake has been on PC forever, the kind of mods available for it take decades to make.

At least anything in that vein would be better than Persona Scramble or whatever
