time management question
i said in another thread that ive never played a persona game. I knew about the time management that the persona games have in them but never thought about them since none of the games were on pc. Fast forward to today and P4G released and ive wanted to try it out.

I was looking at guides for the game just to get me started and people keep mentioning social links with the characters of the game. Now my question is are you told where a certain character will be to talk to them, can you pick what it levels or does it not matter with each character, if you run out of time is it just game over and you have to start from the start again.

thanks for your time

there's NG+ if you miss something, and some option is locked behind NG+ anyway

but wont you get a game over or something if you get to a year if you didn't beat the final boss (i dont exactly know if there is a final boss to win the game)

It isn't like old school Fallout time limits, just a series of month long sequences with a game over if you fail them (with reload a short while back option). The time limit is only a meaningful issue if you try to complete everything in one playthrough.

each social link is specific to a given character, certain characters are only available on certain days, if you spend time with that character you level that social link, some social links have certain requirements you need to meet to progress them. the one that will make the biggest difference is marie's you must have her out earlier than the others or you loose the chance and hers is required to get the epilogue. if you are worried there is a good guide on gamefaqs for optimizing social links.

If you take too long to rescue someone, you get a game over and the game resets to a week prior. You can get an idea of when that is by checking the weather report, generally there are 3-4 days of rain before a rescue deadline.

If you go into your Social Links tab in the main menu it should tell you some information about the character. What days they're available for example.

Also some advice: If you get a Persona that falls under the same Arcana as your link, it enhances the points you get when you spend time with that link. I'm not sure by how much though, but it helps move things along, especially at higher ranks.

Just for general rule in time management to get max social links by the end of the game:
1. Only spend 1 day inside dungeon.
2. Only do jobs/read books/ other activities when there are no social link available in that day
3. Have a persona of the same arcana when doing social link event
