Please let me know if you figure it out, cause I wanna play but not without sound ;-;
My C:// drive is for my OS only, I'm not gonna install games there :(
Don't sweat it just yet, I might have a solution to this which I need to test first, it's possible that if the game is calling for the sound there, we could use the Windows junction function to redirect those calls back to the installation path of where we have our games installed.
I need to test this first, however! So sit tight and I'll come back after if my plan works
Now that you mention, if I remember correctly Assassin's Creed Unity has some simillar audio problems. I had to copy the sound files to the drive my OS was on, and do some redirecting wizardry to work.
So far, my solution is having the game installed on the C drive, which honestly really sucks at the moment.
Sorry to hear that you guys are having issues despite being on the C drive as well. I can't help any further than the roundabout routes that I tried and failed at.
Right clicked on the game in my steam library, went to properties, local files, move install folder, and then I moved it over to my steam folder on the C: drive.
Don't know if you have to do it in this specific method, or if just copying the files and moving them would have worked. Good luck to everyone else with this issue that still hasn't solved it yet.
