How come there is a shortcut key to skip a puzzle on Level 4?

There is a really dumb "puzzle" on Level 4 with the door and the number "3" on it. Have anyone noticed that in this section you can press the "S" key to skip it and get too the next room? It seems the only part in the game where you can skip like that.
It makes me wonder, was the shortcut S key put in the game because the developers knew that puzzle was retarded or why is there a skip button for it?
