Ludicrous that this game doesn't let players use shields!

If you are going to make a Dark Souls clone, then why would you leave out one of the best features of Dark Souls: that a player can choose to use a shield whenever they feel like it, if they want to.

I understand that not every player wants to use a shield. That's fine too.

I'm not saying that players should be forced to use a shield if they don't want to.

Rather, I'm saying, that the devs should not arbitrarily remove the choice from the players, and prevent them for choosing for themselves whether or not they want to use a shield.

I've read comments from the devs before in an interview where they said they don't want to allow shields because they encourage "passivity." But that should be the player's choice to make, if they want to be passive or not.

There is nothing whatsoever that is wrong with playing "passively," if the player wants to play like that. The devs shouldn't be dictating that "passively" is the "wrong" way to play, and therefore they are going to exclude shields from the game so that all players are forced to play in the one & only way that they (the devs) prefer them to play, instead of playing how the players themselves might want to play.

Removing the player choice like that makes the game less fun and gives the players less options, for no good reason, therefore it bespeaks very bad game design.

You haven't heard of Bloodborne, have you? You know, that game from the same company that made Dark Souls? Where shields are a joke? Well, I suppose FROM didn't realize it was very bad game design.

Bloodborne is my favorite in the series by far and you don't need no ding dang ol' shield to eat werewolf ass while you smoke that cthulu grass.

I played the game when it came out on Epic games launcher around a year ago. Shields have been replaced by the harden-mechanic. I found it made the gameplay more interesting than having a regular shield. Lovely game! Jealous of ppl who get to experience it for the first time :) Enjoy guys.

You play the way the devs intended for you to play. It's that simple. This is nothing new, has been a thing in gaming for literal decades.

You're not offered the choice because it's not in the design/gameplay to do so. Get over it.

the hardening makes it even more powerful than a shield since u can block and attack pretty much at the same time. like the second u let go of that hardening button mid-swing u insta counter

Seiko you also don't really use shields and don't mention the stupid fan you can use to block magic thats not a shield. You're whole body is the shield in this game its similar to dark souls not a f1cking clone get over it.

whats more stupid is that the game doesnt allow you to use a shield as a weapon and carry two shields. Seems more like the devs didnt know how to implement shield play. Well maybe i will get this game one day before i die.
