Let's Talk Virtuous Cycle. *SPOILER ALERT*
After tracking through the games areas it pits you against the 4 other shells (excluding the one you picked for the run) First One is fine but then it releases 2 at the same time? With the back-stepping and the hardening I find this very unfair especially with their health pool and the pre-mentioned back-stepping. After them is 1 more and pretty sure he has 2 phases like when you fight for the Axatana+Shell.

It ends with complete and utter unbalanced garbage. That I am 100% sure the developers didn't even play or test while developing this DLC (without their developer cheats) Then there is an achievement to do all of that in your basic Dark Obsidian Shell form and it is called "No Lifer" very fitting.

As you might have noticed I never mentioned anything else about the DLC because for the most part it succeeds. Archer parties here and there but its fine.

Does any other person/player find this as hard(er) or even easy?

I was planning on 100%'ing the game but Jesus f***ing Christ now it just seems completely impossible.

With normal shells rolling daggers or rolling shockwaves will carry you. Those perks are top tier. As for completing it without a shell ... maybe stock up on moonshine and spam weapon abilities.

My biggest complaint is, that the anti-poison mushrooms don't seem to spawn. Or anything that could give you health back. I mean, I understand why healing items do not spawn. But at leats give us the poison mushrooms.

i am not at all happy with the roguelike so far. instead of addressing the poorly balanced and annoying elements present in the main game, they doubled down on them in some misguided attempt to appear hardcore. FromSoftware quality studio Cold Symmetry are not.

You should put a spoiler on your description of the final battle, since it was nice to discover; however, I totally agree with you on that fight. It's very unfair and unbalanced. I think the whole DLC is unbalanced and pretty boring. I would have liked to see the rougelike elements pushed further to make room for some broken or at least more interesting builds allowing for stronger synergy between buffs. For example, there's a lot of buffs that focus on dodging and doing damage with the dodge, but the damage is so small it's not worth it so you just focus on playing exactly like you did in the story mode. This hurts the replayability.

The balance is also off for most of the run in the DLC. It's too hard in the beginning and then gets too easy once you get some good upgrades (besides the final battle). In the end, it just feels like a half ass rougelike mode tacked on to a pretty good game. The combat is still fun so it's worth checking out, but it needs a lot of work.

After falling to death for the second time in the Seat of Infinity after beating the other areas I'm done with VC.

Yes, I forgot to mention this. Having an instadeath due to a fall in rougelikes is never a good idea. This needs to be nerfed to taking off a chunk a health. This is just a bad choice carried over from the story mode that needs to be changed in the rougelike mode.

Another thing that is baffling about this mode is that it auto switches out your parry. I dont know if this is a bug but if you start with healing parry and then defeat Imrod you get the fire parry even if you have unlocked. If this is intentional then its ridiculous taking the only consistent heal the player has access to away MID RUN. And on top of that if you start with healing parry all the instincts you take that buff it are now worthless. (EDIT: ok slightly my fault, you can switch parry types with the ability key, but the game never makes that clear or even present it as an option.)

This game has so many little things that just add up over time. I'm going to try and finish a cycle (using butcher ederm with axakatana) and then i'm done. Honestly getting to the point i regret buying it.

Happened to me too.. The problem is a run can take 2 hours - 3 hours or more if you play extremely safe and explore everything to get all or most of the Instincts. Then you fall to your death... Having to do it ALL OVER again..

a run in Hades is about 15 - 30 minutes per run but then again that game is roguelike focused and a brilliant game so can't really compare them.

too much ranged enemies so far. every group have 2 of them and it's really annoying that they stun you for 200 years every time they land a hit. not so bad in the normal game where you can heal but in this it's making me feel like I am having my patience tested instead of my fighting skills.

I started backing up my savegame folders every 30 minutes. You can do that while you play. Problem solved...:CatMorta: more or less

Yeah better to play Story before DLC. So you know what to do when you play the DLC and where to go. Although you can do it whenever you like to be honest. DLC is completely separate from story (DLC needs no progression from main story I think?) you can access it from the tower in Fulgrim just talk to your Twin/Girl stuck on the slab wall thing.
