Mortal Shell

Mortal Shell

Very sluggish game controls, I have hundreds of hours in souls games, just check my profile. This game is a BIG PASS. Its just too clunky for a game with souls difficulty. You will be out numbered, hits on your will be unstoppable, you will not make much progress. For a game with massive difficulty the combat controls have to be tight. These controls are massively sluggish. Maybe they will patch it but its an uninstall on the epic store for me.

Didnt feel slugish at all, and still felt the dificulty, loved the games, if you ever felt Dark souls is too hard, this is way more easier so give it a try, we will see Mortal shell2!

life is that simple.
people just complicate it...
It's sadly not that simple. People are drawn to souls-likes, because they've exhausted the soulsborne series and want something fresh that scratches the same itch.

The expectations are set by devs/pubs who market their souls-likes as such.

Also, criticism is important. The Epic Games Store/Launcher has no community features whatsoever. That means no forums or user review section, so discussing criticisms here seems as a good place as any.

I cannot for the life of me figure out why Epic does not install a community forum.

I started playing the game yesterday and I`ve already done two dungeons. One more to go.
It´s not that hard.
You can´t play it like DS with block and poke though.
I found the combat exellent , very unique feel within the souls type space.
not so much exploring to do though, just three dungeons and one hub area I think.

Games short though. 10-15 hours at most with new game after that.
Alot shorter than I thought it would be, I knew it wouldn´t be DS lengt but I read ca 20 hours..I expect to complete it in about 10..

I´ve played and completed Demons Souls, all dark souls with expansions, surge 1&2,Nioh+dlc,Bloodborne+dlc ,Lords of the fallen and probably some others soulslikes that I forgotten.
I got a couple of thousand hours between the actual Dark Souls games alone for what it´s worth. On a casual level ofc , I haven´t done any crazy challenge runs or anything.

not saying the game is great, theres certainly stuff I would critique (like they probably left out teleporting between checkpoints just to extend playtime since the game is so limited in scope, the confusing and same looking HUB area that way gives you the initial illusion of exploring when in fact it´s just one small area with a convoluted layout for instance, stuff like that ) just saying I personaly did enjoy the combat.

how is it compared to Lords of the Fallen?
I wouldn't expect the game to be as good as DS series but i do like Lords of the Fallen to be honest, so if the game has a quality as good as LoTF or slightly better i might consider to buy this. Please help answer my question thanks.

Well quality wise what is there is on average on par with Lords of the Fallen, as in combat, enemy designs etc. Maybe some things are better in Mortal Shell depending on your tastes, thing is there is considerably less of it.Also Lord of the fallen beats Mortal shell in the world building and exploration department. So to me Lords of the fallen (which I quite liked for being a budget dark souls)with all it´s faults is a more complete game.
Mortal Shell is .. a few things repeated and stretched out over and over to make it last longer.
Like the devs made 4 demo levels and then went "eh we are out of time" and glued them together and went "heres a full game".
But at the price I guess it´s fair.

I would still recommend giving Mortal Shell a try though if you like DS type games.
A couple of the boss fights where really good. AAA levels good.

Is this sarcasm? Because I can give you a few reasons. Lol
Do Not Buy
I made the bad decision to buy it on egs. And the bad decision is to buy it, not to buy it on egs. Worst level design ever seen in a souls-like, inexistent balance, no pause (ik, its a souls like but its only sp, why no pause?).
Do Not Buy It.
I don't regret buying it. It takes time to adapt to the game's controls and combat even if we are used to Souls games, but it's worth it.
My only problem is that the game is really short, I feel more like playing a big demo than a full game.

Pretty much this - the length is my only complaint, rest is perfectly fine.

tbh, one more complain for me is the fps, only 40- sometimes 70. But game runs smooth so nvm
I played MS and rec all souls like fan her byu but price 4-6 $ no more

It's a young game studio, perhaps with success there will be a sequel or some substantial DLC to broaden the world out.

Some of the other player posts in this forum seem to be whinging, some always going to complain and bite the hand that feeds them what they want...

The size doesn't matter plenty of smaller teams have released games with both content and polish.
