L.A Noire "synchronizing" message stuck on Windows 8!

I recently got windows 8 for my pc and I used to have vista and never had any problems but when I first installed and tried to play L.A Noire I got an error saying "L.A Noire.exe has crashed" the recent patch fixed this I believe but now when I go into game I get stuck at the main menu and the words in the bottom right corner saying "synchronizing" I have tried alot of things to get it working none have worked If anyone knows how to fix this or have any ideas please let me know Thanks! -Ridian

> Antivirus/firewall may be blocking/stopping L.A. Noire from fully working

> Compatability options are set incorrectly on Steam:
•Browse to your Steam installation (Usually C:\Program Files\Steam\)
•Right click on Steam.exe, choose Properties.
•Click on the Compatibility tab.
•Uncheck any boxes that are checked, and click Apply.
•Then, click the "Show settings for all users" button.
•Again, make sure none of these boxes are checked, and click Ok.
•Click Ok to close any open dialog boxes.
•Double click on Steam.exe to launch Steam.
