L.A. Noire doesn't start
Ok... I click in "open game", hope some seconds and the game doesn't launch. Return to the options box, like this guy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8oyI6EPXsDA I've tried to run as administrator e etc, and didn't work. What do I do?

Similar issue here. Game doesn't start, but i don't get back to the options box. The splashscreen disappears and nothing happens at all.

Anyone's got a suggestion on this problem?

Hello guys, first, sorry for my english, i'm not north american.

I solved the problem with the following steps:

1.- Click on Start button
2.- In the search write "cmd" and put the Enter key.
3.- In the commands windows, write "sfc/scannow" and put Enter. Wait until to finish and after that, RESET WINDOWS.
4.- Once you do that, retry to launch the game again.

Hope has been helpful. :)

I don't even get the splash screen just a whole lot of nothing and I know for a fact my computer is more than powerful enough to handle it so it's not my computer

andddd I can't do the CMD thing because it says I'm not the administrator when in actual fact I am since this is my PC and only I use it so I'm fairly certain I am set as the administrator

Here's what worked for me.
Right click LA Noire in your library.
Select properties.
Select Local files.
Select verify integrity. Takes a while for this process, but the game started up for me afterward - there was a bad file that needed to be replaced. Good luck

Yes it found the bad file too on my system, but it still doesn't work. :(

you know what really sucks? I bought this game retail and it's been unplayable to me since I bought it

My game crashes after splashscreen as well. Checking local files didn't fix it, now I'm running sfc to try that.
To run CMD AS ADMINISTRATOR you can try to follow this guide: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/run-a-command-as-administrator-from-the-windows-vista-run-box/
or disable the user account control of windows.

Edit: sfc didn't work for me (no corrupted files found) also reinstalling social club (uninstalling and starting the game again, it redownloads and installs it) didn't work. So bottom line I spent 10 bucks and downloaded 14gb for nothing.Great deal, Rockstar.

The same issue

Finaly found a workaround!
After reading through this thread: http://www.la-noire.net/forums/thread-2705.html I tryed to turn of all my security programms and killing all processes still running after they are terminated and then restarting them one by one.
It seems like zonealarm was messing around (avira causes no problems) and after some more tries and errors I found the responsible .exe file.
The problem is caused by Zonealarms browser-security. But you can't just deactivate it, because the problematic process will still run. You also can't just kill the process, because it will be restarted after a few seconds. So, this is how to deal with it:

Solution:
Open your taskmanager (ctrl + shift + esc) and in the process tab search for ISWSVC.exe. Be sure to enable "show processes of all users" in the bottom left, because it is a SYSTEM-process.
Right click on it and then click on "open filepath".
Now you need to be quite quick. You have to terminate the process and then rename the file "ISWSVC.exe" to something else, so it can't be restarted.
That's it.

Ps: - to quickly terminate a process, select it and then hit "del" and then "return"
- to quickly rename a file, select it and hit "F2", so you don't need to right-click, rename, or slow-doubleclick it.

Having a similar issue but I get stuck in the sync action right after the load screen. Nothing suggest here has worked. This is the first issue I've had with any STEAM download.
