L.A. Noire

L.A. Noire

I can't believe there are no mods for L.A. Noire
My brother and I spend hours driving or walking around 1947 LA, with the game's unparalled map in terms of detail and size. The asthetic is incredible. I was really surprised to hear that there are no real mods for the PC version, and that the PC port itself was rather unloved by whoever made it.

All I can think about is having this game in first person, maybe some extra activities. When I play it, there are so many ideas for mods or game mechanic improvements running through my head.

All I've really found in terms of mods that aren't HD or Framerate fixes is conversations like 'this game is not worth modding', 'the free roam is really uninteresting' (a feature we've put over a hundred hours into, the greater part of days spent playing it).

What gives? Why isn't anyone interested in this game?

Actually, the most things I hear on the radio are commercials. O_o
I'd like to have some entire NBC radio broadcasts, myself :D

as always, it's always the least imaginative who are against modding.

I agree with Werebramble. I have a large collection of music from that era and I'd love a mod where you can just drop some songs into a folder and it'll at them to the rotation of other songs

Perhaps you could edit when certain songs will play. Like, I have a 50-second version of Auld Lang Syne recorded back in the 30's. It would be the exact sort of thing a station might play before going off the air for the night. I would want to rig it so the game plays it at Midnight

Get on it, Rockstar. It's never too late.

The studio has been shut down. All the documentation is boxed up and buried in storage somewhere. All the staff have left and got jobs elsewhere, some of them even outside the industry. It's definitely too late.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Team_Bondi

Team Bondi (/ˈbɒndaɪ/ bon-dy) was an Australian independent third-party game developer. The company was responsible for the development of the Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 game L.A. Noire, which was published by Rockstar Games in May 2011.[3] L.A. Noire was both a critical and commercial success, but allegations of poor working conditions by several former staff members caused controversy for the developer. After failing to secure another game project, Team Bondi was placed into administration and liquidated. Kennedy Miller Mitchell bought the studio in August 2011.

I don't really think that forced-in first-person mod would be any good. I can't really remember any third-person-only game where an FP mod would work at least decent. As for some other stuff - I'd love it if the game's driving would be moddable to make it more complex, interesting and realistic. And... that's it, I guess. We don't need falling whales here.

Still, that probably will never happen. I'm not sure if Rockstar themself fully know how this engine works.

All you have to do is fix the camera to the head position and add movement sway.

Well, what they could do is re-release the game, rebuilt on some level, within the next console generation or two. No doubt in that time they'll want to make an HD re-release. Easy enough profit, and a B or C or outsourced team can accomplish it.

I don't think it will work decently in this game. There would still be lots of problems, and you'd still nee to redo many of the animations for it to actually be any good.

That would be awesome. The main beef I have with this game is driving and vehicle damage system, and maybe some minor graphical stuff. Maybe player controls a bit too. Some of my friends dropped the game after 10 minutes because of it's driving, I had to convince them to stick with it a bit more) If they remade it and rereleased - it would be the best game ever.

But again, no one knows if that stuff would be easy to fix for the guys who didn't work on the engine. And some decisions they made on GTA5 makes me wonder if they won't actually make it worse.

Cars going through each other, or randomly disapearing. Lol the game could use a unoffical patch

The game wasn't really something to mod. People bought it for story and investigation. The GTA elements were just mediocre.
Their meticulous recreation through photos and aerial images of a large chunk of 1940s LA is probably the single most finely detailed video game "level" ever. To me, and many other people, Rockstar is all about the game world. If I just wanted to blow things up I could just play Saint's Row. If I want an experience that feels alive, I play a Rockstar game. The world design in this is one of their very best (even though I know it was a subsidiary studio). Just why wouldn't you want a free camera mode, for example? It's a beautiful game, and it'll be years and years before anyone makes something that will come close to this scale in this kind of niche.

Neither of you seem very moved by the fact you can't write anything in the notebook.

IN THE NOTEBOOK.
