Can anyone tell me the logic why the pervert is the killer and not the husband?
Besides the fact that you can't really investigate as you have no chance to check what the two claim in the interview (I tried to go back to the Morgue to ask the coroner for the blood, some fingerprints on the weapon, or to check whom of the two guys the overall could belong to, no chance) all you have are indications, but no evidence, and the indications point far more to Hugo Moller.
E.g.:

• Eli said the company's logo is HM, not H.M. as written on the coverall.
  
• It is an uncommon coincidence that Eli should have used a wheel wrench of the same car type Mr. Moller drives.
  
• Why should Eli keep only the butterfly if he stole ring, wristwatch, and broche? And if he kept ring and wristwatch also, why hasn't this been found on him?

The only thing that points to him is the fact that you (as the gamer) see the murder in the intro, but that's knowledge neither Phelps nor the captain can have. So why is he disappointed for only bringing indications if you accuse the husband and offers commendation and a drink when you accuse the pervert? (Not to mention the difference of receiving 5 stars if you accuse Eli Rooney.)

The guy's a pervert and it gets him off the streets. To the cops, the ends justifies the means.But, as has been said, all will be explained in a few cases time.

If you are willing to spoil it, or have already played that far, neither of them actually did it, but you won't know for sure until a later case. Those five star rating rate your performance, as shown by when excessive damages can subtract a star, and they aren't actually determined by whether or not you caught the bad guy, although that normally is key to your performance.
