Stuck on Sync screen [SOLVED]

It happened to me (W8.1 64b), it worked for me to force checking the local files from Steam. It takes ~10 min.

The support page from Rockstar looked as if they were working on something, and the steam shop page clearly stays (by omission) that it doesnt work in W8... I think there really is a problem with Windows, I was on my way to ask for the money to Steam (I bought it 2 days ago), but in the end, the steam check on the files solved the problem for me.

[SOLVED]

Wow, just got feedback from Rockstar, just amazed it worked.

Reinstalled L.A. Noire just to make sure my other fixes didn't mess it up.

Went to the Steamapps and into the L.A. Noire folder and found the LANoire launcher .exe

Right clicked into options and disabled all compatibility modes for me ( And the All Users ) included, unchecked all boxes.

Then set Run as Admin for all users and myself (Duh) and did the same thing for Steam launcher on desktop.

The game froze for about 4 minutes on a smaller windowed mode and then continued and launched Rockstar Social Club just like normal, even my Xbox stats were there.

That fix doesnt apply to me sadly because under my compatibility tab everything is disabled. the "run in 256 colors, run in 640 x 480 screen resolution, disable visual themes, disable desktop composition, and disable display scaling on high DPI settings" are all disabled. Also for a quick reference I run Windows 7 with radeon 7700 series graphics card, 8GB of ram. So I should be able to run L.A. Noire.
