[SOLUTION] For those having the "socialclub.dll" error when trying to run LA Noire
I've read in a few places where people had this issue. I also had this issue when I deleted my LA Noire install and restored a backup later. I found that the issue isn't with the Rockstar Games Social Club application, that has nothing to do with it but its to do with the Social Club Redistributable.

1.Go into your LA Noire folder and look for (steamapps\l.a.noire\3rd) in this folder, you'll find an exe titled "Social Club Setup.exe". Just install that and your "socialclub.dll" error will disappear and the game will work fine.

2. Valve should find some way of fixing this issue to automatically install the Social Club Redistributable when you restore but for now, this is the solution.

3. You might get this message when you try to execute the setup :

"A newer version 1.0.6.6 installed for Rockstar Games Social Club. Exiting Installation"

4. You can trick your PC into thinking Rockstar Social Club isn't installed. Go to this registry folder and delete it:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Rockstar Games\Rockstar Games Social Club

5. Then try and rerun the Social Club Setup.exe found in ./steamapps/common/l.a.noire/3rd

Hopefully this helps anyone gridlocked with "You have a later version" errors. You may override an existing installation with an older version, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Works for me =D

This is still a temporary fix and a one that we shouldn't be having. I bought Red Dead 2 on Rockstar's own launcher when it released so I don't want to risk doing this in case I delete my save data but are Rockstar actually aware of this? Doesn't seem like it?

I sent out a complain to customer service two days ago and still haven't heard back.

Can only assume they have their heads up their ***es. They screwed up my copy of GTA V, and it's unplayable now.

But that's normal. I don't why people put them on a pedestal. Rockstar is just as crappy as any other company. Expect them to ignore you and blame your hardware.

Alot of the time it is an issue on the Users End. GTA IV runs perfect for me and LA Noire launches and works fine in 4K. Rockstar is the best.

No, they suck up updating. GTA IV was notoriously horribly optimized for PC. Literally the only time they updated it was to excise content.

The funny thing is I've had less problems with it than with GTA V. I ran that game beautifully for 170 hours and then overnight me and millions of people had issues after the last DLC launched.

Yeah, sure, I guess the game took 170 hours to figure out my drivers were out of date or suddenly realize I had the wrong hardware. Seriously, read the forum history. That game is the motherlode of memory leaks and buggy patches.

Thank you very much, I finally got it working.

What worked for me (I'm in Windows 7) was going to my main "C" drive/ Program Files(x86)/ Rockstar Games/ Social Club and running the "uninstallRGSCRedistributable.exe" then running LA Noire so it forced an update and installed Social Club again properly.

I have had an open ticket with Rockstar and have been communicating with them for about a week to resolve this issue. This morning I received their latest troubleshooting instructions and went to attempt them but as soon as I launched the RGL, it downloaded an update and updated from 2.0.5.5 to version 2.0.5.6 and now L.A. Noire IS WORKING PERFECTLY. So for anyone having this issue and not wanting to do manual changes and possibly screwing something else up, make sure you have the Rockstar Game Launcher updated to version 2.0.5.6. That may be all you need to resolve the problem. It's working fine for me now.

How are you guys playing? I followed the steps but when I am trying to run the game the launcher is asking me to update my RGSC, canceling it stopping the game to run.
So, I disconnected from the internet and the launcher is giving me an option to play in offline mode, still the game is crashing without any error message
