So I don't think those 2 files copied over actually help, it's the fact that a working version is installed. Apparently executing the Steam version accesses some registry entires or files of the cracked (working) version.
Well, it works nonetheless. My only advice is make sure you legally own the game before you do this. And then plan on needing an extra 16GB of free space needed for the torrent version.
If you bought the game you own a license to play it. If I have to install a pirated version on the PC I have a license for in order to make it work, then I'm OK with that.
