Games like this!
I held off buying this for years, and only recently got it in the last sale. Now the "Steam official" fix is out of beta and on the main client, I have got my teeth stuck into it. Still running Traffic but highly enjoying it, and the hammy "Resident Evil"-esque acting is just adorably fun.

So what else out there is like this? Classic or modern, not worried about setting/era really, PC if possible, but PS4 is an option, and anything classic/retro that can be emulated.

I'm aware of the many point and click adventures out there that are akin to this, I've played a few of them! But if any comes to mind, make a mention, I'd be interested to hear peoples recommendations!

You mean set in the 40's?

Well... Mafia for one.

Comparing the acting to Resident Evil is an insult. You just offended my favourite detective!

Detective-y like games! Aw I'm sorry Phelps, if it is any consolation I think that you would make an awesome member of STARS.

I know Steam gives some options, but wondered if the player base could offer any suggestions. Not too worried about the era, but something in which you solve cases in a similar manner to LA Noire would be quite fun to play!

Aw I'm sorry Phelps, !

Well there ain't. It's all you get. The company is bankrupt. Check the news on the Shanghai flick.

Sierra Police Academy Point & Clicker from 2 decades ago is the only one. Also an FMV "Her story" around here on Steam.

Detectives are a niche for now. Detective Columbo is disappointed with your degree of cynicism and flavour of audacious disrespect of what little we have.

I heard stories about rockstar really wanting to bring this IP back, but don't know much about it.

Well I'm sure detective games go beyond Rockstar and LA Noire, there is bound to be some decent ones out there. Like I said in my OP, I'm aware of the slew of point and clickers availiable, mostly older ones, but if there are games that have either the open world and/or management aspects that this game has, I'd be interested :)

well, heavy rain has some detective stuff, but that is a game you'll either like or hate (also you need a ps4 or ps3).

other than that, i'm not too sure...

Ah yeah Heavy Rain was alright, I have played it to bits though. Was fun!

You might want to check out the (ancoient) police quest series.

There are also the Sherlock Homes games on steam - I've only played 'Crimes and Punishments', but it was pretty good.

None of the above have much in the way of 'action', like LA Noire does, though.

Unless there was a change recently I don't think you can just play the older "Police Quest" series without running some kind of emulator. Unless you got a Windows 98 just lying around :p

Blues and Bullets looks kinda interesting =o

La norie 2011 is in my all time under rated top 50 for sure with Max Payne 3 2012, Spec Op The Line 2012
Sherlock Holmes Crimes & Punishments is a good detective game. You could check out the newer Sherlock Holmes (Devil's Daughter) too.

If you're a true detective fan, then you'll want to play "Detective Barbie In the Mystery of the Carnival Caper". It's what real life detectives use for training.

Are you a real life detective, that you know such secret knowledge?

The versions I bought on GoG work(ed) fine, I think they have a built in emulator.

And speaking of old games with 'investigative' type elements, I'd also recommend 'Sid Meier's Covert Agent' also. Incredibly dated, but also really fun. Also, maybe 'Floor 13' (another ancient game).
