Clem Feeney
While I love this game, the story has a few holes in it. Either that, or I am overlooking something.

If Garrett Mason is the black dahlia and killed all those women, one perp that perplexes me is Clem Feeney and his "involvement" in all of it.

He has a scalpel hidden on his desk in the storage room and a bloody dress shirt kept beneath the box with Antonia Maldonado's charm bracelet. If he didn't kill her, why is that stuff there to begin with? Why didn't they explain that?

Any ideas?

That part was really confusing.
Though he definitely didn't kill her, I can only assume he was a fence or a collector of ill-gotten goods. Maybe he raped her the night before while she was drugged, kept her things and later on she was murdered by Garrett, I don't recall that part very well, to be honest.
Another mistaken arrest^^
I was under the impression he was completely innocent 'till I read your post, really.
???u just f'd me, tbh, I'm sure he was innocent
Sure, he had a lot of jewelry hidden around, but...

Right? All of what I read into the lore suggests that Garett Mason knew all of these people to some level or another because he got close enough to them to plant things on them to frame them. Which would make sense but if you pay attention to their reactions when caught, it doesn't really add up. The Clem thing for example being one. There's also a mission where you catch Mendez in the "Red Lipstick Murder" after finding the box in his apartment, he just says "I ain't saying a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing." stone cold. If he was framed for anything, I don't see why that reaction would make sense? I could be over analyzing there.

In further regards to Clem, it didn't really make sense to me why he was so flighty if he was innocent. If you're at the bar and see him in the back, you can tell by how he interacts with the officer's he's urgent to get away from the conversation. Where we could blame this on the fact he was hustling illegal booze, why would he be so nervous about a small time supply project to the level he was. The next sensible thing would be to assume the knife, right? Sure. But if that was the case, then what part did he play in it's possession if any?

That's where I wonder.

It's possible he COULD have had the items planted there but in which case, then is it possible he offered to help kidnap her for the killer? Since Garett basically was carving up bodies in a Church - did he assault her and then transport her? So many questions lol There are a lot of ways he could have been involved. I guess that's where we are only left to speculate?

Very interesting... You seem to have done a lot of research on this.
While playing, I haven't realized even half of the things included in your post honestly.

The game is really puzzling and I had my fair share of help understanding each episode and eventually 'perfecting' it.
Just wanna add that it was quite a different age back then and people reacted towards authority differently than we do today.
The stories have a lot of mystery and it's an accurate simulation of how tricky and difficult a detective's line of work used to be back then.
Cole Phelps even draws accurate sketches of each and every person he questions, a small detail in-game, which I love.

I really enjoy it. Great acting performed by all (those facial expressions and voice acting are stunning), great music and the city is built perfectly. What an amazing period...!
It's like watching your favourite series, but instead of just watching, you get to play it through.

ps: I know this is mostly off-topic, but the only thing this game gives me is positive vibes, despite bad at it.

Oh I love the game. Very much. I think it's a good reflection of the line a lot of detectives walk between their own personal morals and the corruption and politics that are at play behind the scenes.

Kind of like during the whole Tupac Shakur killing. There were a food good cops trying to figure out the truth but the deeper corruption behind the case kept them from doing so without great risk to their own lives and families, at the least their careers.

It's a great game. Just so many questions more than answers in a few places.

I think in this case the simplest explanation may be the reality. Its possible they were not originally intending to have all of those murders be a single guy originally, but added that plot twist later. If the artists and writers were already setting up that story, they may have just overlooked those details which were intended to be changed. Because all of the murders have something wrong with them that leaves doubt as to whether or not they killed him but that one. He just responds a bit too off to the evidence displayed if it were planted, but they did offer plenty of doubt despite that concrete evidence which would make it more likely the killer simply came across the body and took something rather that committing the murder and framing Clem. Considering the size of the game and the details I really think that just got overlooked by the devs.

But considering the size of the game, it is pretty amazing that this is really the only major hole I have seen in this game overall. Defiantly a masterpiece and I would have loved to have seen more titles out of this IP. I really wish the VR version had actually included the full game. But sadly it did not which keeps me from getting it.

Wait. VR doesn't have the full game? Lame! The detail in the game is really something, though. A lot of the smaller details blow my mind. Like the name brands of clothing, watches, appliances, etc. It made it very immersive for me, honestly. I just wonder how he managed to plant the evidence and if it was planted, why did they all seem so panicked/guilty? Could be just, in general, a personality thing. Like panicked because they were going to be framed for something they didn't do and hence ran impulsively without realizing the consequences. Could also be that they had previous criminal records/offenses?

I'm really just that kind of nerd, though. Pick things apart, analyze (probably too much). Regardless of all that, still one of my favorite games of all time and I never get tired of playing it. I agree, I'd have loved to see more titles stem from it - or continue it as a series.

Yea there is a reason the reviews for it are so bad. I wanted it after getting VR, but when I found it its only a few cases it turned into a hard pass. I mean there are so many details that actually amount to an overall story. Small things that culminate in the end and to remove so much make that loose all of its context. Its a beautiful game that did such a great job. It sucks to see its adaptation screw it up so much. If they could get those cases to work why not do the full game.
