This may help some of you who just installed L.A Noire or have no clue what the game is asking.
OK so You just installed your new copy of L.A Noire from steam, you launch it and a pop up say "Install the latest version of Direct X" or whatever with direct x, but you may say "I have the latest version of Direct X" or whatever you may be thinking. So what you need to do is go to the L.A noire in your steam library right click and click on "Browse Local files" from there go to the file called 3rd and find the file name "DXSETUP" click on it and install it. From here you may be happy and launch L.A Noire, it loads with a huge grain you click launch game and it's loading but what's this it's gone nothing happened the game did not boot up. "Why the game does not work why!!!!!!!." well my friend log out of steam completely. After that go to Steam shortcut and rick click and press run as admin then sign in and launch the game like before. The game will load and the game will play. Angels will sing behind you as the game finally launched and now you hear L.A Noire theme song. Hope this helps for anyone who just installed L.A Noire or anyone who can't figure out how to get in and just uninstall it. If this didn't work or it"s what you needed just do your research and that's it. Also if you didn't understand me in anyway I can just say it in steps on how to do it.

Shotgun9009 what is going on with your game
Hi,

I have the same problem. I tried all fixes out there, even the registry fixes and still not working. In my case, even the launch menu does't pop-up. When I click "Play", the L.A. Noire auto-updater shows up for like one second and then disappears and the button refreshes to "Play" status again. I am honestly quite unsatisfied with the fact that I have not been able to play the game since initial purchase.

I click play, some sort of installer or launcher shows up for 1 second and tries to install something then instantly disappears without any errors, then nothing happens. Can't even get to the L.A. Noire launcher. Tried EVERY SINGLE FIX found online several times

Sorry to ask just wanting to know what fixes you did excalty because the only things I can find that may relate to the problem you have like the unsubscribe from the Beta Program, the verify the Game files. SteamVr is active to deactive even switching to DirectX to 11 or 12 even to updateing the drivers. There's even a video but he mange get to the luacher srceen but I don't know for this I will keep trying to search the problem.

I've tried:
- verifying integrity of games cache
- launching steam as admin around 10 times (does absolutely nothing no idea tf kinda bs everyone's throwing around about that magically fixing it)
- setting compatibility mode of the .exe file and the launcher to WinXP service pack 3 and Win7
- downloading the registry files and running them from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXfLGmQXX_o
- Also changed the drive letters within those registry files
- installing DirectX manually from the "3rd" folder in the game's files
- I have the latest graphics driver already
- I opted out of any Steam Beta programs, this changed nothing
- Updated Rockstar Games Launcher to the latest version, didnt change anything

And none of it changed anything at all.

The game seems to be unplayable for some of us. I have also tried the "fixes" mentioned here and still cannot launch the game.

Same for me. Tried on two different devices and met the same outcome :(.

Same issue here on 2 different systems. It shouldn't be this hard to get a fairly new game working. I wish I had requested a refund in time.

Worked for me, but also have the game and steam to run as admin (only this didn't work).
Thanks.

Hi, did you request the refund and they denied it ?

EDIT: Never mind the below. I got it to work. I went to the executable and right clicked there instead.

I'm on the " After that go to Steam shortcut and rick click and press run as admin " part.
But I do not get the run as admin option when I right click on my Steam Icon on taskbar.
I have fully logged out of Steam account. And I did d/l latest version of Direct X. DXSETUP was run as well.
