5 possible ways to get L.A Noire working + Skip Launcher
I know only 5 ways to get this game possible running. Ofcourse ther might be more solutions. Every pc is different and there is not 1 solution that works for every pc.

1: Run Steam and L.A. Noire as admin by right click on the icon and select Run as Administrator.

2: Download the registry files and add them. (Before adding them by double clicking on them it is wise to make a system restore point in Windows.)
https://www.dropbox.com/s/pce4tzf7n5q289a/L.A.%20Noire%20Error%20Handler%20Reg%20Updates.zip?dl=1

3: If directx error comes
you have to go to this folder of the game:
steam\steamapps\common\L.A.Noire\3rd
there you start the dxsetup.exe

4: You can try running the game not in DirectX9 but in DirectX11 if your pc supports it. Or try the opposite way.

5: For those having the "socialclub.dll" error when trying to run LA Noire or the game does not run.
You can trick your PC into thinking Rockstar Social Club isn't installed. Go to this registry folder and delete it:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Rockstar Games\Rockstar Games Social Club

Then try and rerun the Social Club Setup.exe found in ./steamapps/common/l.a.noire/3rd

BONUS:

How to skip the L.A. Noire launcher?
Create a shortcut to your desktop or Run LANoire.exe directly with the "-parentIsLauncher" argument.
How you do this?
Go to the shortcut or LANoire.exe > Rightclick on it > Properties > Target > add there behind : -parentIsLauncher
In my case it does look like this: "D:\Steam\steamapps\common\L.A.Noire\LANoire.exe" -parentIsLauncher
Run it normally at least once, to ensure settings are populated and social club gets set up / updated correctly.

what do you mean by run with "-parntIsLauncher" argument? Why do you have to be a semi pro coder just to play Rockstar games?

Updated I figured out what you meant by target. I still couldn't get the game to launch so I requested a refund. Hopefully I get it because I purchased this a long time ago and just got around to trying it out.

Hello,
It is still not working for me could you help by any chance? I did all of the steps and its just instantly turning off without any errors and launcher doesnt even run.

Hey. For me, it fortunately worked without issue, but I would still like to get rid of the annoying launcher. Apparently they added it years after the game came out. I made a shortcut and put the -parentIsLauncher into the target, but it doesn't seem to do anything and the launcher is still there.

lmfao

I've been playing this lately. Got up to the literal last mission in the game a couple of nights ago, but went to bed figuring the ending would be better if I wasn't dead tired.
Literally the next day someone hacked my Rockstar Games social and changed the email address. R* support is taking forever to do anything about it and I'm annoyed because I have like 1 hour of game left and I can't PLAY THE GAME without signing in.
The 'skip the launcher' step isn't working for me, unfortunately. Time to keep looking.

Got my Rockstar games from bundles, which is good cuz don't play them, dispise the 'need' for Social Club when we know game doesn't need internet other than control and paranoia from Company, so great games, too bad six apps and internet are needlessly insisted upon. Not worth it, too bad, really wanted a pc RDR2, but....

I swear people pride themselves on using computers but not being able to do anything with them
when i was growing up you would google how to do something then, yknow, follow the instructions and do it
now anything beyond 3 clicks on a fullscreen gui is "semi pro coding".
I would love to make a terminal fullscreen on their computer and open vim in edit mode with these people and watch try to exit

Back in my day, our computers were these doohickeys called musical boxes. Y'all see now, they had these little sheets of paper with holes, kinda like how you kids used to use punchcards for y'alls compooters. We just had a lil lever we had to rotate and BOOM! Magic, we burned the witch that invented it tho.
