[no spoilers] "Red Lipstick Murder" Car Bug

I get to the point where my partner pulls up and says "Get in and drive," and I cannot enter the car. I try closing the door before I get in, trying the passenger side, walking instead of running up to the car...nothing works! I can't pass this mission because of it.

Has anyone else experienced the same problem, and what did you do to fix it?

5 years later and i can only come with this work arround solution in case someone is struggling with this.
literally grab any other car near your car. then chase it and leave your parner behind
