Down in Bermuda is - by time - about 75% hidden object game, 20% puzzle-box game, and 5% boss-puzzle game. On the first level, you receive an item that locks you out of an achievement for your entire run if you make the mistake of using it. Likewise, there are achievements for completing certain puzzles "perfectly" that you'll likewise need to wipe your save file for if you do them sub-optimally.

That aside, how is it? Fine, I suppose. The artwork is charming enough. The minimal story is serviceable, but introduces many questions that never get satisfying answers. If you like 3D hidden object games, you could do worse - but the trailer focuses on a couple of cutscenes and the relatively sparse puzzles, when the majority of your time with this game will be spent looking for small sparkling orbs. Even the sale price of $12 feels exceedingly steep for what you're getting, nevermind the MSRP of $20, which is absurd.

One of the typical mobile-style puzzle games made in Unity that have managed to find their way to Steam in the last years. Please don’t get me wrong, actually I don’t mean this as a bad thing, some of those ports are quite good, people might remember Hitman/Lara Croft Go from Square, the Room series by Fireproof or respectively Agent A from this very company right here, so Down in Bermuda is no exception to that (but to be honest, I wouldn’t have expected any less from Yak&Co :P). Again a solid little puzzler with cute minimalistic-stylized graphics, but in contrast to Agent A this time featuring less story and definitely shorter, also puzzles aren’t as complex (more puzzle-box-like, pull a lever here, push a button there), and about half of the game consists of looking for orbs scattered in the environment in a typical hidden object way. All in all this might disappoint you if you’re just looking for a similar experience as the last game, but if you just see this as a new and fresh title, it’s nevertheless very relaxing and entertaining, still an ideal little casual time killer. By the way, gamepad control works pretty well, good example how you can implement those controls in an originally touchpad-designed game without restricting it to mouse/keyboard in a port.

So, hmm, what’s left, maybe some advices for all completionists out there like me. Probably the most important ones, you might want to look up a guide upfront for that sliding puzzle on the last island, and maybe make a backup save before the sheep puzzle. They’re all not really that difficult, but you just can’t repeat them, and having to play again through the whole game isn’t really that thrilling I guess. Also don’t ever open a Starmap.

But listen to me talk too much again. To sum it up in short, worth a play-through if you’re bored, and also I can’t deny a clear recommendation from me, but because of the short game length better wait for a solid discount to see.

Update: The devs have patched the zoom speed, so it may be tolerable now. I refunded the game and do not have a way to check. I am leaving my negative review with this disclaimer as I still feel that the game is far too expensive for a short mobile port.

Mouse zooming and scrolling is entirely too slow, which in a game that's almost entirely about zooming and scrolling quickly becomes frustrating. The puzzles are mostly about just clicking on everything to see what's interactive. Pressing all the buttons and switches is satisfying enough that I think it's fine as kind of a pixel hunt, but with that slowness issue it just becomes a drag. Maybe check it out once/if they speed it up.

I also think $20 is pretty steep for what's on offer. I got it on sale for $12, which seems much more reasonable.

This is hardly a puzzle game. The hardest 'puzzles' are the hidden items - most of which are actually marked on your map so you don't even have to turn your brain on for that. The graphics are nice (if you like this style) but poorly optimized. There is a complete lack of any adjustable settings for both graphics and audio, despite being needed for performance and playability (the audio is very unbalanced for example). The dialogue is really bad and doesn't even have proper punctuation.

Overall it feels very low effort and unengaging. Absolutely not worth the money it costs. Feels more like a 1$ mobile app then a $17 pc game.

EDIT: I just discovered it actually is a $0.99 mobile app! Don't get scammed into buying this poorly ported mobile app on pc for a cool ~1600% (!!!) markup.

A nice game with charming graphics and simple puzzles that aren't too easy. To be played at a relaxing pace for people who just want a bit of casual gaming.

Edit: Completed the game now, as others have pointed out the mousescroll/zoom takes a while but that could easily be patched and isn't a complete dealbreaker. However, because of this and overall length of the game (very short) and a couple of other minor issues, I wouldn't recommend it at full price.

Down In Bermuda is a Puzzle and Hidden Object Indy game. Beat it and collected all the triangle bits in 3 hours using a mouse. Difficulty is easy.

The entirety of the game is exploring a handful of 3d islands, finding all the little shiny bits, pressing buttons, flipping levers, and spinning things.

'Family Friendly' is one of the tags for this game. Most of Down in Bermuda is great for kids EXCEPT once, involving an electrical cord in water, which a 5 or 6 year old might try to replicate because they wouldn't know any better. That and a few of the puzzles would be hard for kids that age to grasp, anyway. So the game is better for older kids who know right from wrong.

The graphics are simple, the music is fine, the puzzles range from 1 brain-cell to A-Little-Lost. I was stuck a total of three times, once involving mushrooms, once involving OJ, and once finding collectibles. Was able to sort out all three through sheer will, with a minor guide check on google for the mushrooms ONLY because I was unsure what to do there due to three unrelated flashy triangles.

Achievements are hit or miss. Most you can get in a single playthrough, some are tricky and there's no way to go back on saves if you screw up because the game auto-saves as you go.

Would I recommend Down in Bermuda? On sale. I got this game for 2 dollars and it was worth the money. 20 is way too steep for what you get. There are way more exciting, fulfilling, mind-blowing games out there for 20$ and this game isn't on that list. If you like puzzle games and there is a huge sale going on, though, it's a therapeutic romp,

Some achievements are harder to get and you will need to replay the game once or twice.
Some people are complaining about this being a port and paid: wait for a sale or play for free on mobile. This is Steam and it's paid if you want to play here. Such childish thing to complain about. They need to grow up.
Full price feels expensive in my currency for this game length. I bought yesterday at 60% off and don't regret at all. Recommended.

I loved Agent A, but I didn't care for this one. It was painful trying to move around the island, particularly zooming in and out. What I loved best about Agent A was its smoothness, the ease which which you could move in and out of scenes and jump in and out of puzzles--the screen movement was a deal-breaker for me here.

You know those Step2 activity tables for kids? Where you splash around in the water, look at the pretty colors, spin some wheels, press some buttons? This game is like one of those but with a nice soundtrack and a cute, unobtrusive story. It’s not full of difficult puzzles, in fact you shouldn’t ever really get stuck—it’s mostly a game of exploration. What might happen if I tap this? Or pull this lever? Or poke this fish? It’s a game of collecting not-so-hidden objects and figuring out how it all connects. Gameplay may not be very long, particularly for experienced or adult gamers, but the atmosphere is so comforting and inviting that you might just hang out on an island for an hour or six while the background music sets the vibe for your busy work tasks of the day. I found the game itself quite fun and the mechanics as of 2022 seem optimal to me—very simple to learn and fluid to use. For $1.99 on sale, it’s a wonderful little break from reality. As much as I love it, however, I can’t in good conscience recommend it at the sticker price of $19.99—that seems a tad high for what is like a $4.99-tier game. This definitely has a different target audience than Agent A, but I’m still glad I bought it and played it.
