I’m working on a new Necromancer spell that summons skeletons to fight alongside you. While the mechanics are still in progress, I want to involve the community in the card design!

🔹 How to participate: Use Adobe Firefly to generate fantasy-style card images and share your results with a link (see image instructions below).

🔹 Example Prompt: Just go here and edit the prompt to your liking [firefly.adobe.com]

🔹 Rewards:
🏆 First Place – Your card design will be added to School of Magic, and you’ll be credited in the game! And you will win a Steam game.
🥈 Second Place – Wins a Steam game.

Literally Unplayable - Starting with no Spells?

Here's what I did: 1. Opened the game for the first time 2. Followed Tutorial prompts 3. Started the trial 4. Get to level up immediately and pick a spell 5. Died during the run 6. Started the trial for the 2nd time 7. ...no level up, no starting spell What am I doing wrong? The game is literally unplayable. I can't do anything....

I've got some exciting news about School of Magic! The open beta registration will be closing soon, and from then on, the next update will be for beta players only. I've been working hard on the first boss, and I'm thrilled to announce that in the next few weeks, I'll be dropping a preview of the boss fight for you to try out. This is a huge milestone because it means I'm finally starting to push forward on content. I'm excited to create the skill tree with new cards and abilities, and explore new areas filled with fresh enemies (yes, even pirates!).

Minor Bugfixes

This updates fixes a couple of bugs:

Combat Caster now does regenerate your mana correctly
When walking with WASD your spell queue is cleared when running out of mana

Some feedback

Map: the map can be a bit confusing at times, especially for beginners. After a few play through you kind of get used to the ambiguity of the map layout. But it would be better if the map is the mini version of the play area. Font size and UI size: Hope it will be adjustable in options in beta and/or full release. For me I am very shortsighted so I would prefer a larger font size and UI size so my eyes are more comfortable. I think the concept of combining deck building and dungeon crawler is quite nic...

BUGS: keyboard movement

so i just learned you can use wasd to move while mouse casting... boy does that make a difference.... meanwhile BUGS #1:repeatable- when using wasd to move while mouse casting... you will "RETAIN THE LAST CAST INPUT FROM MOUSE AFTER RUNNING OUT OF MANA"(right click) resulting in you casting your spell as soon as you have mana for a single cast, immediately putting your mana regen on cooldown once more. #2:(happened once) only "active" spells were "poison arrow" and "Shrine of Storm" - the bug being losi...

Feedback on Steam Next Fest Demo

Overall I like it. Music was fitting, I liked the low-poly aesthetic, and had a good gameplay loop. Got to level 8. Things I didn't like though are: 1. The main hub really consumes a lot of resources. My GPU went from slow fans to ultra speed, and I've not had that happen often with Unity titles. Witcher 3, yes. 2. Feels like a lot of clicking involved. My wrist was getting a bit sore. 3. Not sure the point of breakables and chests in the environment, if there isn't any loot. A new pair of robes might b...
