I'm German, so American Football is not my "natural" game, because its not played on the same professional level as in the NFL. But I love it and try to follow it as good as possible.
As always when it comes to sports games you should be familiar with the main rules and action happpening on the field. So a bit of a learning curve will defrinitely be there. Also some of the important vocabulary will be neccessary.
American Football is a bit like chess on grass, so base rules are not that hard, but the details can hard to dig into.
