Do you happen to have a controller plugged in too? And does that controller have any amount of stick drift? That could make the game (and many other games) hide the cursor.

I had pedals connected. Disconnecting them solved the problem.

Just curious - what game developers wanted from my pedals? Kind of stupid as hell - if you want to play the game, please turn off pedals

I'm guessing that most pedals (and a lot of game accessories) register themselves as a type of controller. For example, I have some DDR pads that are recognized as PS2 controllers. This is probably because it's a lot more convenient to use drivers that already exist than to write a brand new one.
