Power staff ... Power
So is it just me or is the power staff one of the worst weapon options? Its skills are difficult to use, basic attack is very short range, it burns mana, and except for the last skill they do pretty mediocre damage.

Am i just doing it wrong, or are they really just in dire need of a buff?

I kinda agree, I wish it had more damage, keep the range short so it is unique compared to others magic weapons.

It's a strong opportunism weapon, the 2x3 attack does like 2x base opportunism damage. Debuffing accuracy is also a very strong debuff against mirror shield or enemies you cannot stun. Remember that enemies can also miss buildings and all you really need to do is get them into negative accuracy. The range is pretty bad if you don't have any skill range but this is a melee magic weapon because of the last skill that doesn't use skill range.

I really like it on the 4th map for the extra mobility.

It's base damage is already higher than other caster weapons. The only one that's close is the scepter but that's also short range.

stunning entrance (skill 2) also charges momentum and costs 0 mana if you have the thrifty perk. it has good synergy with axe and a momentum offhand to spend it for free each turn.

Is good combo opportunism and setup for the 3x2 skill.
It has slightly higher damage but the range is often hard to use.
Carry another backup weapon just in case for different situation

It does have the privilege of being the worst weapon I've tested so far, yes. You need a very big amount of power to be able to make good use of stunning entrance, range is as mentioned, too short, and you will rely a lot on having the boon of finding skill range level up or gear to really make it work. I had some amount of success pairing it with a scepter. But let's be clear, it was the scepter doing most of the work due to being the momentum option.

I'd rather have a power staff than a 2h sword. But my last hero using it was one-shotting trash (apoc 0 tho) with the 1 so maybe that is causing me bias.

As far as momentum weapons go, the two handed sword isn't toooo bad. It's a one handed sword with an arguably easier to use rush ability, and a 2 targets hit, and the damage value isn't bad, and you have a localised zone cleaner. But I would say the two handed sword is also a weapon which needs an other to complement it, otherwise, it's a struggle.

It's not a bad weapon but to be good, it requires an incredible amount of stats. I'm gonna quote someone else talking about it because it describes perfectly how I feel about it :

it needs a lot of stats. Too many. It wants movement points so it can maneuver around packs once you teleport in, it wants mana because Scorching Waves cost a ton, it wants regular magic scaling and crit to do damage and access good mage perks, it wants stun chance to proc the Opportunist bonuses, it needs accuracy because there's a malus on most power staves and it also needs defensive investment because you're going to take hits. In addition to all of this, it also needs one of the rarest stats, Skill Range, to really get value out of Stunning Entrance. Many characters - most characters - won't get all these stats from either level-ups or good gear. And if you have low meta unlocks, forget it, because you need just about everything running to make this hero work.

However, if you manage to get all you need, it's a fantastic weapon (managed to do it once, and it was an incredible run with it).

the only stats you really need are a bit of skill range and opportunism. it isnt mana hungry at all if you only use scorching wave (2 mana) and stunning entrance (1 mana). it only needs an average amount of accuracy so you can hit dodgers/hunters/runners. it has an accuracy debuff that costs 0 mana to apply which sets up scorching wave perfectly. its by far one of the strongest weapons in the game and they even removed the scroll for its skill 3 because of how powerful the skill was.
