The number of nights can be seen if you click the Circle where the mages are channeling. There are a numer of small boxes there, one each for every night for this map.
When final night arrives there is a red slider in the upper left hand corner of the screen. As the phases of thsi final night comes and goes this slider gets more and more filled. (goin from left to right). When its fully filled all the way to the right then the final phase of the final night has arrived.
(During normal nights this slider is blue in color and the filling from left to right lets you know how many more waves of monsters that are left incoming for that night.)
The phases during final night are a bit different in all maps.
And the number of total nights are different for all maps. Shortest have 7 nights. Longest have 14.
Enjoy!
The number of mages no longer affects how fast it fills up, it just adds more HP to the circle, increasing its survivability.
