1: in regards to restarting a game over and over again to get desirable starting heroes, I've never really known how to feel about this - part of the point of been given random starting heroes is to learn to work with what you're given and to make the start of each run more unique and unpredictable - but you're right that there's plenty of people who will simply quit and reload over and over again to get a start they're happy with... I just feel including a quick restart option would negatively impact the intended effects of having these randomised starts, and would make them kind of redundant if someone can just reroll infinitely.
Perhaps a good middle ground is an omen of "redraft", which lets you reroll the starting heroes up to x amount of times.
2,3. absolutely agree, there should be some kind of visual distinction between regular and upgrades ballistas, and a quicker way to go about upgrading them.
4. I also have found it hard to grasp how to play with power staff and generally avoided it in my 100 hours of play, but I'm pretty sure it is a viable weapon if you learn to play around it - it's basically the magic equivalent of a spear mixed with a hammer - lots of crowd clear and stun potential, with some added mobility.
I'm trying for higher apo levels.
Sorry but some weapon combinations at the start are just a loss. You won't even kill a first wave on fourth map if you roll into 3 single target weapons.
Interesting idea for sure! However I suspect this wouldn't do anything other than cause people to continue to roll over and over again the map, since that would essentially be wasted omen slots.
Really it just needs to allow for a fast restart to swap out the heroes over and over until you click begin the fight. In the current form, it's nothing more than a major time waster and detracts from enjoying the game when wanting to crush some of those later apoc levels.
I agree that the people determined to get a perfect start are just gonna continue to restart either way - personally I still think starting with a random start is part of the charm and that it can lead to more situation where a certain item drops that gets you really excited for how it affects subsequent nights and a characters potential - I just think if the devs did implement a quick restart/reshuffle option then it completely undercuts what they're going for with the randomised starts.
At that point imo the best solution would be a system where you start with x amount of gold or some other resource exclusive to starting a map which allows you to handpick heroes and items - basically introducing a loadout phase - if gold was used, then it could introduce another tactical layer where choosing to underequip your heroes could lead to more gold to get your economy started.
If loadout phase was a thing, I still think the selections of what can be acquired should be limited and random - otherwise you just end up with a situation where people are going to bring the same loadouts into the same maps every time, and use the same plan.
4: Power staff isn't that bad. It pairs well with momentum and opportunism weapons.
