Blood Magic not Viable for mages?
Maybe i'm missing a trick here but feel a bit confused being that Vampire only works with physical damage, crushing my dream of having a blood mage. I didn't play in beta so tell me if i'm wrong. By the way I love the game it really scratches a itch i didn't know I had.

They can work for poison mage only and you do need hp recovery modifiers at least to 150% but generally you would want your mages to use magic crystals to replenish mana. The crit mana perk is also viable but 10 mana per turn for a mage might be lacking.
Just use hp pots and high dmg. I always go blood magic mages if the perks are unfavourable regarding mana gain.

There's also a temple - 40 HP healing for no worker cost available right away. Can be upgraded. It also passively increases max HP every day which increases current HP as well.

Hmm thanks for feedback but I feel the other options seem too much of a compromise as I would rather use levelling for more damage than maxing out HP. Potions seem costly and wouldn't I need to waste 2 perks points to get 4 bag slots, wouldn't it be better to make that hero into a physical based attacker. I see how that might work with a druid staff might try it, cheers.

You also do not need to think so stagnantly. The damage got reworked so that most of the damage bonus you can get is general, while focused damage like Mag/Phys/Range. You can use your favorite magic weapon while having a strong physical weapon as a secondary. You wont lose any damage unless you specifically have unequal specific damage and you can heal effectively when you need to. This also works with the Triple Swipe or Ground Smash scrolls

@Blacksnake Ah yes I see your point as long as I can take the damage modifier and not specific damage type also with the other stats that are universal, I didn't think of using scrolls good tip. I like to build my mages like glass cannons, so i guess i'll need to build them more like a battle-mage. Which I feel is going to sacrifice damage for defence. Which may be necessary depending on the perks that have been rolled, I guess its a build that is more situational than one to try and force.

blood mage+poison tree+druid staff is awesome in melee. have a shield on your second weapon set for more defense.

i will say that there are not a *that* many use cases for blood mage. but i haven't experienced all the havens yet. in the havens that i have done, i haven't needed to go to zero mana to survive. but maybe on apocalypse levels you need that kind of mana efficiency to survive.

Yeah. It's easy to work in and I love that they update the mana-based perks to work with Blood. I would say that this perk is mainly for melee that are lucky enough to get Vampire (especially now). You can get a ton or resistance from having mana on your gear or wherever you picked up mana. The Blood Shield is dope too.

Blood Mage perk is really the tank perk now lol.

Right so, I set up a build with Druid staff+poison+vampire which works pretty nicely, with heavy armour and a one handed axe for boomerang+dmg debuff just in case and melee off-hand for free action (free heal). I took some HP potions but haven't needed them so far, might switch them out for a movement/warp scroll and leap scroll. I was tempted by blood shield but had not stacked any block and seemed daft without the spiky counter. I can heal up easily, if Q.Reload perk was available I would of taken it. Cheers for all the feedback.
