That said, to actually answer your initial question:
There are lots of strong clan combos. Anything with Little Fade is strong, especially Fade/Hellhorned or Fade/Awoken. Stygian is a strong clan in general, though depending on whether you're playing with DLC or without Tethys is either very rough or very strong respectively. Umbra tends to struggle hardest with the DLC, though they still have some good options.
Wurmkin is very strong in any combination, but especially with Hellhorned and Awoken.
For my part my favorite was Hellhorned/Awoken. Wrathful Prince (with one level in Brawler if offered) + Spikes was generally pretty easy to run even as things got more cluttered and difficult. You pretty quickly pick up which artifacts and support cards will help the most.
