When to get/activate the DLC ?

Hi !
I'm really enjoying the game and slowly upping my covenant rank (currently sitting at cov 9).
I've unlocked each of the five factions is the base game and won at least once with each of them.
They're slowly leveling up (around 8/9 for the first two, 5/6 for the spell and morsels ones, and 3 for the melting remnants).

I was wondering when would be a good time to buy or activate the DLC ?
Should I wait until I've nearly maxed out my factions levels/covenant ranks or should i enable it sooner to have the added content difficulty slowly rising with covenant ranks as I still learn the game ?

Only thing I know beside what's advertised on the dlc page (new faction/final boss) is that a good chunk of the dlc content require that you willingly choose to activate it during a run, but I don't know how much having the dlc enabled will change how I play/enjoy the game as of now.

If you are enjoying the game and want more of it, go ahead. You in no way need to 'max out' the base game to enjoy it.

I think it makes an incredibly fun game even more incredibly fun, I'd enable it! Fusing units together, or hypercharging spells, is just too much fun. Wurmkin grew on me as well. It's not super noob friendly clan, but eventually you can start to see how versatile the clan is.
