squidward
a revenge tank with only 70 hp
how is this supposed to work
it will trigger revenge twice in the lategame, sure 50 shard stacks is nice but its barely anything compared to what others can achieve
the frost can only work if it survives to make it tick

Frost channel Solgard is his hardest path to use, imo, but it can be done. You need some way to either keep him alive while take hits, or hit him yourself while he hides behind your real tanks - so armor, healing, self-targeting spells like Torch.

I’ve only successfully used him once, with awoken restores. I think I also had a pair of wildwood saps, and got the double healing from regen artifact later. A holdover full heal could probably work too, though would be a lot worse for bosses.

Of course, at some point you will also need to be able to snipe back liners before they just 1-round solgard, but stygian has ways to do that.

I don’t think he’s great, but I also don’t have a whole lot of experience using him, so maybe there are others that can provide more/better tips.

Odd that it's not anything compared to other champions, but somehow still manages to be considered one of the top champions in the game. He's strong, easy to use and scales up to huge amounts of damage.

It will trigger revenge multiple times per round, and it doesn't really take a ton of effort to keep him up through the end. So no, it's not just triggering revenge only twice in late game, he will still trigger dozens of times. Also it doesn't actually have to survive for it's frostbite to keep ticking. That's important because he will often die to end game bosses, but before he's gone he should have allowed you to put on hundreds or even thousands of frostbite stacks.

He's so strong because you only need to focus on keeping him alive and you win. You play a spell that heals him.. his damage scales up. You play a spell to give him armor.. his damage scales up. You play a spell to sap enemies ( don't sap below 1 attack!! you want him to get hit ).. his damage scales up. You play a spell to snipe a high damage back row enemy.. his damage goes up.

It doesn't synergize well with every house, but if you can heal or armor it shouldn't be hard to make it work.

There's a classic "I win this run" combo with it that you can have in your starting cards. All you need it Guardian Stone and Torches. In other words your uncommon slot, and playing secondary standard Hellhorned. Then you dupe the guardian stone, infuse the copy in itself, and dupe it twice more. Play Torch on Solgard to trigger incant: armor, and his revenge. Becomes absolutely unstoppable if you also find Railhammer relic, but it's not actually required(does make it easier without the full 3 double-guardians though).

Coincidentally, I just won a run with Solgard last night. Nothing especially tricky, it was mostly a typical incant type deck. Guardian Stone, a quick double-multistriking Siren of the Sea, and boosted heals through Restores and Glimmers.

He certainly can't win on his own, but few champions can. But with the right support, he's a total monster, especially when it gets to relentless.
