Covenant Rank 10?
Hi Everyone,

I quit playing the game for I found Covenant Rank 10 too limiting when the game came out: anyone entering the top floor is dazzled for a full round, no skills work, etc. See my review, I found it far too limiting and a frustration, not fun so abandoned the game.

However, bumping into it and looking into updates I found this:
"The Covenant Rank 10 and 20 challenges have been changed. Covenant Rank 10 now gives Emberdrain to the first unit played to the top floor each turn..."

Lend a hand lads: Does this mean the frustration is over and it's time to play this adorable fun-thing again? I totally forgot what "Emberdrain" is and unsure this change means what I hope for.

Thanks everyone :)

Emberdrain just means you will have 1 less ember the following turn. You can actually completely mitigate this effect with the top floor play by doing things like: Play a morsel first, it'll get eaten by the champ or whatever unit you put down on the front of that floor, and no emberdrain the following turn; Titanchannel Solgard can be placed down first since it is phased it won't actually eat the emberdrain, but it'll also trigger the "first unit played" so no unit will actually get emberdrained, or also just a unit that will die to the units attacking it / burnout if they have 1 burnout are all ways to get around the emberdrain.

I mean it's honestly my favorite game of all time but that was true before the update as well. I do think the emberdrain change is a good one though, definitely I think it is a less frustrating mechanic than the dazed was.

I think you're overstating the impact of the top floor daze, but yes I do think the change to emberdrain is a positive improvement.
And as Gabriot points out, there are plenty of ways to work around the emberdrain.

Thanks guys. Rewarded both of you with some awards. Time to install the game and play it again! Likely will go for the DLC too!

Have a good one!
