Nothing unclear about that,... if it says: "+5 attack, + 10 hp", it will give +5 attack and +10hp.
Honestly its pretty hard to use since its difficult to get enough decent creatures in the first place, let alone extras to sacrifice, let alone something worth sacrificing! For every tasty +60/+55 (+2 size) Shadowsiege, theres a host of critters with very lame abilities.
Plus the joyous feeling of 230 health emberdrainer sweep guys later on...
Also some of the "lame" abilities definitely have their uses, and I generally prefer scaling abilities over straight stats, especially stats that come with a side of +2 size, that's really awkward.
Some of my favorites include infusing tombs/imps into each other, fusing scaling abilities into multistriking and/or sweeping units, or on strike effects on sweepers. Also doubling up on revenge or rejuvenate effects is sweet.
Also expensive units can be made much more playable with something like Wilting Sapwood or Pyre Chomper infusion, like the aforementioned Shadowsiege.
The really silly thing to do is make the eggs endless, so you get them back every time they hatch. I beat Seraph easily with my bogfly farm, it didn't work as well for the last divinity. I infused morselmaker into it, for +6/+6 scaling every turn. This was a good play, but I was lacking in aoe and tankiness for last divinity fight.
