Also Coldchannel Solgard is one of the strongest champions in the game, but a bit dependent on what your other clan brings to the table for survival.
Not exactly true, the phase shift one is a good stat stick. You just don't build around him. He has *some* use.
Tethys has more utility for sure though.
Oh and usually to pushback Talos.
Coldchannel is incredibly powerful in most builds if you give her proper support (armor, hp buffs/healing) and is a monster at killing bosses. Other than that, if you aren't offered coldchannel at the start, starting titanchannel is pretty strong and allows you to crush the early game as Titanchannel 1 is good (it's 2 and 3 that suck). You have a 50/50 to get coldchannel after that and if you hit it on the first upgrade you can still have her be great, but I will agree that getting stuck into going Titanchannel 2/3 or Titanchannel combined w/ Direchannel is pretty bad.
To everyone saying Tethys does to Pyrewings or spikes: I'm guessing you're putting all your stats into frostbite? I highly recommend putting a point into conduit or sweeper to get a natural increase to her hp, that will allow her to survive a hit of pyre wings or spikes, and then you can utilize any other number of cards to either give her armor, heal her hp, buff her hp, give her damage shield, sap the sweepers, stun the sweepers, ascend/descend the sweepers, reform tethys, or simply fire a bunch of frontloaded damage spells to kill pyrewings. You'd have to low roll pretty hard to not find any of that by end-game, usually I find people complaining about Tethys survivability are ignoring answers offered throughout runs that could have prevented her deaths to sweepers/spikes.
