Hell Rush scoring
Hey there,
relatively new to the game and I've been experimenting with Hell Rush mode. How are these games scored? I assumed people beating me with scores were finishing faster but in today's match I was certainly finishing quicker than other players but their scores were higher than mine? I also made sure to defeat the boss on the first floor.

So I am finishing the train faster and not losing points by losing floors but still getting a lower score than the others?? What am I missing in terms of how this game is scored?? TIA

IIRC the point system isn't actually based on speed. It's based on if you turned the trial on, how many rounds left when the boss dies (3 or more gives the same score), and how much pyre damage you took during fights. It might also be how much gold you have at the end of each fight so saving a little extra gold might help but I'm not too sure. Losing friendly units, losing pyre health in events, and killing non-boss enemy units earlier don't actually affect score at all.
Oh really, super interesting! Thanks for your response.. I guess I didn't have the trial on because I'm sure I played perfectly outside of that. Thanks again.

Hell Rush scoring is the same as Normal scoring, so the usual things to increase your score (taking the trials and defeating the boss quickly) still apply, as does the penalty for taking pyre damage during a battle.

The score displayed is the score that the player would have if the run ended right then and there (abandoned, disconnected, or otherwise). This also factors in the score from leftover gold (which is a small amount).

It's +10% for every turn remaining, which can exceed 3 turns on the three major bosses (which can be defeated before they land)

Big Hell Rush fan here, sometimes people get weird point numbers that I don't understand. For example, 1810 is the score you get from the first round if you take 0 damage and kill the boss on the first floor. As far as I know this is the highest possible, having extra gold does not factor in until the final score. Why do I sometimes see people getting weird numbers outside this normal cap? Here is minor example, this player has 3 points higher than the rest of us even though we all perfected the first round.

Btw I do not believe they were hacking or anything like that, they did not have irregular scores at any other time during the run & finished 3rd.

EDIT: Does your gold really matter to the score of each consecutive round? Maybe they took gold instead of the artifact? IDK I'm confused but really thought gold only counts for your -final- tally.

I concur...I say if you are going to have a competition in a game, you definitely need to make the score and how to obtain points VERY clear. This is not the case in Monster Rush. What I'm seeing right now, is the people who have done research on the forums to understand how the scoring works, have a leg up over the people who spend their time in the gone only. This is a failure of the devs to communicate with the players. I realize this is a newish game still, and that my comments sound a little harsh, but it's really early in the morning for me, and I'm still tired lol.

TLDR: Create a How Scoring Works Tutorial in the game, and make it easy to access in Hell Rush...also give players more UI notifications when score changes happen...like a message that says "Player 1 Kills Boss 3 BEFORE Final Round! +500 pt Bonus!" Or something like that...maybe even add an announcer Monster voice as an option to go along with this...would definitely make the games more exciting.

Finally, great work on Hell Rush...I'm finding it VERY exciting! And I LOVE LOVE the card frame for winning 5 times! Only thing is now that I have it, I'm finding myself less wanting to continue to Hell Rush. Maybe add additional incentives to the PVP game options.

Great idea! As someone who's new to the whole thing it's a bit disheartening not knowing what to do to win lol. I'll have another crack at some runs with the advice from this group but it would 100% be great to have a bit more clarity. I did a run yesterday and I just don't know what I can be doing to score higher but obviously my opponents have a trick because there's always at least one person who jumps ahead.

Posting to confirm that your gold count gives you a (HIDDEN :steamfacepalm:) point bonus after each battle round. I started out by taking gold over the artifact, and my perfect score on 1st round was over 1810.
Wow. I haven't had time to sit down and have a good sesh to try everything out but this post clearly shows the dev should help to clear things up here!
Guys it totally says what the gold coin value is at the end of a run. I just scanned the summary screen and down the bottom right I had 140 coins remaining for +70 points. So each gold is worth 0.5 points
