Is this game really that easy?
Compared to Slay the Spire, this game is like a fourth as difficult. Probably even a fifth. Keep in mind I didn't find StS hard either.

Right now I'm on a roll. Only play a game once in a while. On covenant 6 now with a win streak of 4, playing random/random. Getting pretty bored I'm afraid.

The top end is harder, the lower end is easier.

You'll likely make it to the 20s before feeling that the game is getting harder.
you can change a text file to set the game to covenant 25, then come back and answer your own question.
The game has a more gentle curve than STS. Maybe the devs should let you up the Covenant rating without have to go in to the text file. I think the problem may lie with the challenges not having enough risk to complete and therefore allowing the player to get too much money perhaps? I'm sure on covenant 25 things get tough regardless.

I want all the classes unlocked up front personally. I find it annoying to lock the content around hours of grinding.
Tutorial difficulty is easier here. The actual game is about the same as spire. I presume that as someone wanting difficulty you're playing spire at a20, so you will find plenty of challenge here as well.

Just edit your save file if you don't want to grind to Cov 25. Frankly, it should be an ingame option to start there.

EDIT: Just read your comment properly. If you didn't find StS challenging then you did not play a20. The best players in the world barely break 50% win rate. So yea, disregard everything I said. I wrongly assumed that you actually wanted difficulty, rather than just feel validated. Come back once you've beat a20 in spire.
What make me believe this game is nowhere close in term of difficulty to StS is that you have so much decision power in MT that you can most of the time fiddle your way thru something which is potable. As opposed to StS where you really have to do best with what you have and where it is not enough most of the time anyways.

Anyways, I guess you guys answered my initial question.
I thought it was pretty hard at the later levels. I had a huge win streak then 22 got TOUGH. When I gained ascension 20 in Slay, it was a lot to do with luck. Same here. I will say this game was more fun and it provides greater replayability and challenges. I never thought I would say that when I played this for the first hour. I've only beaten 25 with Hellhorned.
Good luck and I'd love to hear some day your opinion about the diff. on cov25.

Alright. I'll try to remember this thread then. ;)
I felt like that too, I've found it really hard to lose a match, but just made it to 15 and feel like it's starting to challenge me a bit.
I was was beginning to wonder the same thing. While learning the mechanics, I lost 5 out of my first 6 games, but I have won the last 8 in a row and am now Covenant Rank 9. I guess I'll keep grinding until I get challenged again in the 20's. A lot of it seems to be finding out what the busted cards are and then leaning on them for victory. My impression is that it could probably use some more balance tweaks, but I'm still relatively new to the game so maybe I'm just missing some strong synergies among cards I don't value very highly. It's hard for me to compare it to Slay the Spire just because it's been a couple of years since I last played it, but I remember getting into long winning streaks with that game too.
Something I don't like is the save scumming you can do to beat basically any floor and I'm hoping that its get adressed eventually.

Had a bad start or messed up? Just go back to main menu & load back in, restart the match with exact same card draw & enemy placement.
no win streaks to be proud of if you do that so..there's something to discourage reloading.
oh just fights you mean, well you still won't win if your decks sucks and otherwise you deserve it is how I handle that.
It's easy at the start, then gets a lot harder as you level up. Honestly I made the mistake of grinding up in cov, and now the game's just not enjoyable at all.
Cov 1-9 isn't too hard honestly. I'm stuck at 15 myself.
The game seems to be harder at around Covenant 10, yeah. After my 8 game wining streak, I lost my next 2, won 2, then lost my last game. The first loss was a lesson. As Hellhorned/Remnant I took the relic that randomizes all card costs from 1-3 as my starting relic thinking I would just pick up all the expensive cards. The problem was that I was never offered anything that cost more than 2 and cards got randomized to cost 2 or 3 disproportionate to cards costing 1. It was so bad that I lost to Daedalus. The other 2 losses were close. I had Seraph down to 26% health one time and at 18% health the other.
I'm leveling up Melting Remnant and two of those losses were as Hellhorned/Remnant the other was Remnant/Stygian. I like Remnant, but it seems to get off to a rough start compared to some other clans. I don't think I would be having problems winning these games if I just stuck to Awoken as one of my two clans, but I already unlocked everything with them so I'm moving on to other clans for now.
