Keepstone (holdover) with Surgestone (consume) interaction?
Anyone know how these two things interact if used on the same card?

Presumably the card would be consumed and not go into the hand next turn, unless you had something like Wing Clippings to give it a chance to not be consumed, at which point it would go straight into the hand next turn?

You can't consume a hold over... they'll block you from having this.

That's what I'd have thought, but while I haven't clicked "upgrade" yet to see if it would prevent it, it doesn't say it's ineligible at least...

It consumes it. Read the tooltips, consume cards are removed after being played. It's irrelevant if it also has an effect to put it on top of the draw pile, because the card no longer exists after playing it.

That's actually a really thorough answer, thank you. I read the tooltips of course - my assumption was that it would simply be consumed and the holdover wouldn't take effect, unless I had Wing Clippings (or something else with a similar effect?), in which case presumably it would have a 50% chance of being in my hand next turn (rather than going straight to the discard pile) and a 50% chance of being consumed as normal.

Either way, the explanation for why it would let me apply the Surgestone to the card makes a lot of sense. I'm only on my second run so far, so I'm still learning the ropes. :)

Yeah no problem. For pretty much everything in the game the tooltips are as clear as possible, it's a good habit to keep reading them because a lot of people tend to block out the real effects. A common one is that new players sometimes assume "Revenge" will only trigger when you're attacked, because that's the most common way it triggers, but it triggers on any damage, which means you can damage it yourself to gain the effect. Same with unit moving, you can use most spells that ascend/descend to move your units, but the wording of most of them allows you to use them on enemies too, which some players block out mentally because they see the card and think "oh, that's the card I can move my units with" instead of reading it and realizing it doesn't stop you from using it on an enemy.

Good luck with the game, it gets a little more complicated as you go but it can be a lot of fun when you realize hidden combos with things you underestimated before.

Yeah, the "hidden combos" thing is one of my favourite things about deckbuilders. I already picked up on the revenge thing, in fact! The only revenge unit I've seen so far is Wilting Sapwood (Revenge: Gain +1 Ember), and earlier in this run I used Branding Rite (Piercing, Deal 5 damage, Apply armour 20) on it.

Far from an amazing combo or anything, but doing so allowed the unit to survive one more enemy attack that turn and the revenge effect let me play the final card in my hand, too.
