Fails to download on Linux
After installing, it downloads 0 bytes. I tried to launch the game, but was told

An error occurred while updating Obversion (missing executable) :

/home/karlodinium/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Obversion/Obversion.x86_64

Seems they didn't set the Steam content correctly, have emailed them.

The Linux content just isn't linked to store purchases, a very quick fix in the Steam back end.

I wrote about it before: https://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/putting-a-linux-game-on-steam-missing-executable-a-common-pitfall-for-game-devs.14783

Thanks for letting us know. It was indeed a very simple fix. I apparently only managed to add the linux depot to the beta and dev packages, missing the all important main package.

More important though, you managed to make a game for Linux. :signix::steamhappy:

Great! Thank you for the quick fix. And yes, thank you for the Linux support!

Thanks for the hints, Liam!

Hi I was going to try testing this out for the group Hidden Linux Gems, but I'm getting this error, not sure if this was broken again because of the latest update to the game or not. Thanks!

Looking into it.

Awesome, BTW the executable (presumably 32-bit?) works fine when run from the terminal, my steam controller inputs were a bit weird, but that could be because I wasn't running the game through Steam

Thanks buckysrevenge, that's helpful. So it's probably not an issue with the binary then. And yeah the steam controller probably isn't working because of steam (although you might be able to coax steam into making it act like a generic gamepad and then it should work). Are you getting the exact same error message or is it slightly different? Also what flavor of linux are you using? It's still working on my testing instance of Ubuntu.

I'm getting the exact same error message listed in the original post, the executable I'm launching from terminal is Obversion, Steam is expecting Obversion.x86_64 and not finding it. I had Steam verify the files, but that didn't help.

I'm running the latest stable version of Manjaro.

The issue is because the executable has been renamed in a recent update to just "Obversion" and the Steam config is setup to look for the old name.

Thanks Liam! I just figured out the same (though I don't know what was going one that it worked with the developer package). I did the simple fix of changing Steam's linux launch config and it should work now.

Cool, I'll test it out shortly
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
