Club information - Favoured personnel

So here's a curious one. Why does it take so long to be considered favoured personnel for a club?

Quick example - I have been at Lille for 4 1/2 years, during this time I took over when they were in the relegation zone and saved them.
I built the squad up over the next 18 months, had a run in the Europa to the semi's then qualified for the CL 2 seasons early. I fulfilled all of their philosophies, I even then managed to win the title ahead of PSG to break their utter dominance.

I'm not even in their favoured personnel, never mind being considered an icon. Yet players I signed for the club a mere 18-24 months ago are favoured?

I'm ashamed to admit that yes, it is my vanity that makes me ask this question.

I was at Stuttgard in 2nd division and a promotion was all it took to make me an icon at the club. lol

No way! I'm baffled then because Lille certainly don't have a prestigeous list of icons. I'm hoping the 5 year mark and a nice run in the CL knock outs get me there.

Does tend to be easier for players to become favoured than managers - with managers fans tend to generally be quite fickle and takes a lot of time to show positive improvements whilst with players in some instances just half a good season can get them on the list.

Say for instance, if a player scores a hat-trick on derby day, they can go down in the club's history. If a manager wins on derby day it's a plus, but has nowhere near the same impact.

Also bear in mind for managers the biggest boosts come for competition wins and individual trophies. Hopefully with your Ligue 1 win you'll soon be on the list.

Yeah for sure I can see that to be the case. I guess I was looking at it more from the point of view that PSG are/were utterly dominant, so breaking that dominance would have a greater effect. I also won the CL the following season at 40/1 odds I believe.

To further the point (while not arguing your explanation), Claude Puel is an icon at the club after being the boss for 6 years with a best place finish of 3rd. I admit I don't know the circumstances as far as club stature goes while he was there. But from my point of view, I've taken them from a relegation battle to CL winners in 5 seasons. Worldwide club status, healthy financial status.

Only a small detail I know, I'm just more curious about whether it more comes down to time in the role, rather than actual achievements during that time!

Yeah if you won the CL as well and still aren't part of the list then I'd say that's a bug.
