That being said, big teams ALWAYS try to low-ball smaller teams.
also 2 years isnt long, the less from 5 year deal the less money you are getting offered, that is why it can be a good thing to not wait 3 years with renewing.
That's just the team's way of saying he's not for sale.
But hey Hunter will do what hunter does and speak from a miss informed position based on information provided by people he has never met irl and never uses his own experience or evidence. 'It's just' no it isn't lol no league 2 team in the UK would even ask for more than say £25m for the greatest player they have ever seen in the academy, yet on FM they may ask for £50m+ and refuse everything, even offers that would make the selling club a power house in their own league. Give me one example of a second division player moving for £50m+ who is under 18 and isn't from south america. Can you Hunter? After all you defend like this ♥♥♥♥ is acceptable.
I would suggest that some transfer business is strange, lots of big purchases for star players by certain teams and often doesn't seem like the AI teams have a transfer plan.
Also, remember that if you want to purchase a player in instalments or with certain conditions that is not the same as meeting their 'price tag'.
Regarding wonderkids getting snapped up on the cheap a few seasons in. I don't see this being an issue, usually sold on the basis that they have never reached their potential or been given an opportunity, seems fair to me and about right on balance.
Not true and not based off fact lol
