Gears UE on PC was dead even a couple months after release in 2015 , 9 years ago. Gears 4 on PC during that time period was dead too unless people searched at the same time while organising a group in discord. Crossplay saved the game, unfortunately there isn't crossplay for UE, and the port is terrible when compared to the xbox one version which actually have had the devs apply fixes for.

if you want to play UE, then your best option for matches is to join the gears of war (pc) discord and hopefully organise some matches. I would play it but the game runs absolutely terrible, it somehow ran better on previous version of windows on older hardware.

You can try to find a lobby on the north america host during peak times.
Usually the number of players is increased, when they drop trailers or other content to their next game

BUT, the problem with gears ultimate edition is, it has no crossplay so the number of pc players is usually low for gears ultimate

Well my reasons are simple one I don't trust the epic store and the windows store is ♥♥♥♥ its why a lot of people dont play halo wars 2 on pc. Some of us just use steam unless we are playing a game that would be like league where it has its own launcher. I also would rather play gears on console. Gears 5 is so dam buggy in the campagin that it soft locks when ever it feels like it when playing alone and god forbid you play with randoms they go afk they purposely die they stall out certain sections and arent good at the game.

40-60 fps on a 40 series card is probably one of the reasons why. And because the game is way too stiff and dated, really feels like 2006 with how bad it is.
