Is Gears 5 worth it for someone who skipped Gears 4 but enjoyed 2 /3 BUT also isn't much into action shooters anymore?

I know it kinda sounds stupid but I haven't played an action shooter in forever and not really into them anymore - does this game do anything to WOW you? I played Gears 2 and 3 and enjoyed them back when I was in middle school but now I'm 28 years old and taste have changed quite a bit.

I have it in my library already, so it's not a $ issue, just is it worth my time, you think? How did you guys feel about it?

To be honest with you. If you going for it's campaign- I say no. It's not good as the classics. It's 3 players so if you gonna play it- i recommend with friends.

There is also pve modes like horde mode(which I only play if i feel like it) and there is Escape mode(boring)

Then there is pvp which I hate because it's not fun. Lots of tryhards.

Since you skipped 4. The locust didn't die off. They evolved into the Swarm. After the events of gears of war 3 ending. They are kidnapping people to pod them (slowly turning them into a member of the swarm). The swarm are connected to a network. That's how they communicate with each other. They kidnapped Kait's mother because they needed a new queen to lead them. OFC they went out to save her but it was too late so they killed her to end her suffering.

Now in 5. You just have to play to understand what's going on now.

FEAR really seems to hate multiplayer. While I also don't like Escape, I find the multiplayer to be the best it has ever been.

As for the campaign, you're not gonna be playing on the hardest difficulty so you can make it as hard or as easy as you want. So if you just miss gears, put on a low difficulty and enjoy.

Compared to the trilogy, there's a lot more cutscenes and dialogue, the pacing is slower and 50% of the game is set like an open world game where you can either go for the main objectives or stray and complete the side objectives. More info in the linked review.

Thank you for the replies and sadly for the multiplayer part IIRC I tried it before and I just couldn't find a good stable game so I just gave up on it - however the campaign is the only thing I'm interested in which I'll give 2 hours sometime in the near future to see if I like it or not.

The multiplayer alone is worth the purchase so get it on sale if you're on the fence about it. Fall sale coming soon. The campaign is alright. Some epic moments.

Yes I loved , 1,2,3 and judgement didn’t play 4 didn’t touch a gears game for a long time picked up 5 and it’s been one of the best single player games I’ve played and finished in years
