Is the campaign any good?

I'm not really interested in playing the multiplayer, and I've heard this series is for the most part a multiplayer focus game.
I guess I'm just bored really, and looking for something to play.

Compared to previous titles, this is the second weakest. 4 was the worst, this is better but still not considered as good as 1-3.
Also you're not gonna enjoy much if this is your first title in the series.

The Gears of War franchise offer an excellent campaign, however I would recommend you start playing from 1 rather than jump a decade forth and play 5 first as you won't understand half the story or characters.

I personally don't like the campaign. I find it to be extremely weak gameplay wise and weirdly paced, the character writing isn't the best and will give you major whip-lash when the characters magically act different, there is some world-building/lore-development in this game but the story itself is quite bland.
Some people really like the campaign though, especially the DLC campaign, Hivebusters. But I never got the appeal, I never liked semi-open-world games anyway.
You could give it a try with gamepass, see if you like it, buy it here.

As a gears veteran and it being one of my favorite games ever made, I would skip this one... ESPECIALLY if you havent played the others. You can get the first one remastered on PC, and the others if you get gamepass ultimate you can stream them as long as your internet is good enough. Just need a controller. Hopefully though soon we'll get a MCC like collection for gears and theyll all just be on pc. 5 was genuinely the WORST story in the series, and its not even close

If you are into... meaty macho blokes march forward, grinding teeth and mowing down aliens, then yeah, you will like it. If you like stories that tickle your brain, then you will be bored. Personally, it is sad to see so much technical skills and worldbuilding wasted. The environments are really nicely done.

If you get gamepass ultimate, which you can get cdkeys for for like $5, you can stream xbox games to your computer
