Gears 5

Holy Man - Controls WORST I have ever seen !!
Iam playing - of course - on PC - and the controls in Gears 5 ... SUCKS harder then any game in the universe I have ever played!
Man - what is this f*** ???

If iam crouch AND Sprint, I CAN'T changing my direction.
Also if iam running without crouch I CAN'T change my direction while IAM Running. HOW STUPID is this??
However, when I'm not running, I'm an extremely easy target for enemies and PVP.

Man Aeons of games make this 1000x better.
I'd played Outriders - it was amazing.
And I'm just used to accurate and precise controls from other shooters.
But this is crazy cramp!

It has been like that in many games. To compensate for the design lacking proper physics & geometry & also bad AI & pathfinding, they are providing artificial difficulty by crappy controls. Best examples are Resident Evil games but many more are using those subterfuges. Meantime, they are making appealing visuals with ray tracing, tons of cinematics and useless talks ...

The game is not that bad but totally outdated in terms of controls and animations. You feel you are stuck doing just a few repetitive moves with your character and it should evolve drastically with nowadays tech.

What games need to do is to provide to the players a very good map design with horizontal and vertical movements, free climbing, vaulting, etc and proper fluid controls. It's totally doable with modern technology from development point of view. And it will be a fair tactical challenge, not an artificial one. Though, it will for sure require more branstorming from the developers to think about their mechanics, but they are becoming more and more lazy nowadays.

Skill Issue? Maybe your post is a skill issue.
Others here ultimately understood what I meant.
Playing shooters more then 20 years - skill issue is this big ♥♥♥♥ Controlsetting Movement in Gears 5 - i mean - how stupid is the fact, I can't change direction while Iam running....
Never see this in a other games.
So dont please waste my time with senseless comments.
Thanks.
To everyone else: Thanks for your answers. I'm going to test switching the sprint button - although I don't expect much from it.

I think he was talking about skill in regards to wall bouncing. The turns on the run is very wide. Can't turn on the drop of a dime like a Call of Duty type of game. What gears players do is break up the run with a quick wall bounce and you can change directions instantly. Actually once you learn to us the wall/cover mechanics of the game, its pretty genius and becomes high octane jumping from wall to wall, cover to cover while using the gnasher and onshoting someone off the blind spots. Hope that helps.
