I had more fun playing 1, 2, 3 and Judgement on emulator.
Oh yes it does - Gears of War 2 is 14 years old and the graphics do NOT hold up well today.
Ultimate Edition is literally completely busted bc its big modern tech is already deprecated just after a few years of system updates meanwhile og still going strong after so many years with no incompatibilities, even online works better on it. Newer isn't always better, infact its often worse.
Also, usually remasters address issues like incompatibilities with newer OS systems. I know Microsoft pretty much buggered up the GoW 1 with their last update, but if they're interested in regaining the Gears community - they'll need to do a decent job of enticing them back - better control system, nicer graphics, having the games taking advantage of multiple cores etc... asynchronous computer.
There's a reason people are still buying Crysis Remastered, Uncharted 4 remastered (PS5 version), CoD: MW remastered... and the only real difference is their visuals.
I wouldn't even mind if they released their 360 emulator on PC, modern Xbox is nearly a PC anyways, wouldn't be difficult, sure a nice PC port is preferable but for the many games stuck in licensing or just not giving a ♥♥♥♥ hell of their publishers I take being able to play at all over nothing which is what we currently have.
You've just admitted that if the graphics are bad enough, then a new graphical coat of paint would be nice.
No offense, but Gear 1 is definitely starting to show its age...

...not only that but the colour palette has that terrible yellow-gray filter over pretty much every environment. The textures are heavily compressed and given that a lot of people are on 1440p and even 4K these days, it doesn't hold up well at that resolution.
Same with the TV's. They're getting bigger as well, and even if you can/could get XBox 360 (don't know if they still work with the newer TV's) working on the newer TV's, TV's have gotten a lot larger since 2008, so the game being shown on a bigger screen just makes its graphical weaknesses even more evident.
I don't know how to say this but I don't like what they did with Gears 1 remaster, it doesn't fit the feel the original had. I think it would've been far better if they just upped it ABIT not to where it tries and looking realistic.
Resident Evil 1 remaster fits this perfectly for what I'm trying to say. The game looks horrible! But the remaster made it look good and kept the vibe it had.
So I'm agreeing with you to an extent. Sorry for any typos or if I'm coming off iffy, I'm exhausted while typing this.
Edit: I know RE1 is just a demo rn but it looks better than the UE demo did.
