But trust me, no matter how balanced a games MP is.. You'll always have someone saying "OP this, nerf that"... Always.
Especially on places like Steam.
If something is unbalanced, better to buff the other weapons then to nerf one particular weapon into the ground and make it useless.
This wave of negativity is what comes along when a new team/company develops the same game people have loved for years. e.g. everyone loved halo 1 - 3, but when 343 stepped in and made halo 4 and 5 everyone just complained, however the playerbase is still going strong for 5. The love for the original games are obviously so strong that companies remaster halo and gears 1 and people flock to it. there will always be hate on the new successors of original games and the people who develop it. In my honest opinion, gears 5 is not bad and is actually pretty good
Ya I would agree, been trying the game out under Game Pass
So far, seems like a solid entry into the series.
Enjoying it a lot more then I did with Gears 4, was disappointed with that one for the most part, especially the campaign.
as for gears 5 itself im really intreasted in the story horde (escape looks kinda oddly cool?) mp i can really take it or leave it...
I haven't played MP yet or looked at the monotisation methods.. Gave the store a quick look over and it looks better then 4's anyway
Which isn't saying much, Gears 4's monotisation was pretty awful
I just wish I could play as my boi carmine, the gears 1 version.
*Technical Issues
*Progression System ( Grindy )
*Battle Pass rewards ( Mediocre )
*Lack of OG characters and fan favorites on Multiplayer
*Mind numbing scoreboard screen on every wave completion
Mostly features that were praised are key aspects on wherein Gears 5 improved than its predecessors.
*Graphical improvements from Gears 4 to 5
*Gunplay feels more impactful and weighty than Gears 4
*Longer campaign than any gears title ( semi open world, side missions )
* " Story telling " and facial animations seems to be top notch than any game that i've seen besides Devil May Cry 5.
*On what you expect from a Gears game, gore and headshots or OHK still felt satisfying.
If you can cope up with those cons that i've mentioned above, then go for it. If not, i suggest to just wait after 3 months so that issues like those are more likely has been fixed and new characters launched already.
Plus a whole bunch of other games to try out too.
Just remember to turn off the Auto Renew guys, otherwise Microsoft will charge you again in a month.
Now, since you stated that you do not care about cosmetics (neither do I), nor do you care much for multiplayer you should be in for a good time. Campaign is a fun romp, escape is neat, and horde is fun if you're into wave based survival stuff (I am not). I would highly recommend multiplayer as it is one of the better iterations in the series; if you are not a fan of modern multiplayer shooters, but were into them let's say 10 - 20 years ago you'll have a good time.
Edit: As for bugs - most of them are not game breaking. Maybe a character jiggles on the victory screen or something. The largest issue is that depending on your rig you may need to use either the newest driver or roll back to the previous for the game to function. There does not seem to be any logic to which one your rig will use. This is Nvidia's fault by the way, just like it was for Gears 4. I know that won't stop people from reviewing the game negatively, but I'm just saying for what it's worth since you seem reasonable.
